I’d be willing to play with the order a little bit, but to me aircraft looks are determined by more than just “beauty” or “elegance.”

And most won’t agree but I also found the Comet 4C and the L188 attractive.
One of the advantages of being older, I got to fly on some pretty cool aircraft.

The rest is just tubes with wings.
ZKCIF wrote:For me,
1. A318: very strange proportions. looks different, one of a kind
2. ATR 42: there is something amazing with being so close to the ground. like a dachshund
3. ATR 72
4. A321: amazingly long. looks sleek
5. Boeing 739: same as 321
6. Xian Ma 60: Looks so ancient and therefore attractive
7. Boeing 727-200: when you see the whale tail and the stairs to the 'back door', you know that it is unique
8. MD 83/88: same as 722, but without the unique stairs
9. Boeing 732: that amazing shape of the engines...
10. Dash 7: 4 props look cool
11. CRJ-1000: like a cigarette (although I hate smokers)
12. A343: the only really beautiful widebody. ah those hairdryers taking me from Madrid to Santiago de Chile...

Cannot assess Convair because of my username. I would be too subjective

Pretty much this, especially in the twinjet-under-the-wings era. Other than the occasional rear-engine t-tail, it's mostly how long the tube is and what the end looks like.

ZKCIF wrote:I find A318 amazingly beautiful from inside, especially when entering it and seeing the unique proportions of space due to its shortness and wideness. Somehow for me this transfers from the inside to the outside. I saw a few of them land in Salvador da Bahia (those of Ocean Air), and they just looked different. that was love from the first glance...

ehbowen wrote:For me the #1 answer is easy: Boeing 727-200. That plane is perfect. I worked air side at HOU in the '97-'99 time frame, at the same time that I was taking flying lessons there (in a Decathlon...'nuff said!), and had plenty of opportunity to observe 727s both on the ground and in the air. At least to my eyes, there's not a bad line anywhere on the airframe, whether you're looking at it from dead ahead or astern, any angle to the side, top or bottom, gear up or down...it's almost as good as a pretty girl! Again, at least, IMHO.
I'd rather walk than take a 737 MAX.

None of these look bad, it's just that some look better than others.

The most beautiful jet IMHO is the 727 in AA or CO livery. Next is the L1011 - perfect lines.
757 and DC6 deserve mention. I also have a soft spot for the Convair 880,
Finally...the Shorts Skyvan. Not beautiful, but unique.
