Maybe $100 in coach and $220 in business class. Given that relatively small premium and average flight length of around 2.5 hrs, most of mine have been in business class since the soft product is generally better than in the US. It's also amazing to me how many of these were on widebodies OR with fairly empty business cabins over the past ten years. Neighbors were relatively rare since EU carriers don't do the widespread upgrades prevalent in the US.

Average? Maybe €20 or so, I tend to go for the dirt cheap flights only. If it's €50 it's expensive, €75 is a reason not to fly.

Of course I could afford more expensive flights if I wanted to, but why would I? For me it's like a sport to fly as cheap as possible, always looking to get as far as possible for as little money as possible. I don't care about luxury, therefor I'll never fly first or business class. But the cheap flights I come up with tickle my sense of adventure.

I understand that I have to ignore such flights as VNO-FRA-GRU and only count flights like VNO-HEL-LIS
I would say somewhere between 70 and 75 euro per segment.
about 100 flights, of which 1 on Ryanair, 1 on Easyjet, 1 on Vueling and never on Wizzair or any other evident lowcost. therefore, the average is quite high

Not entirely true. In the moment CORENDON airlines is selling tickets for 0.45EURO, that is 45Cent!!! - less than 1$ plus Tax between Germany and Turkey. Also Vueling was recently offering intra-Europe deals from/to Orly for 9€ INCL.TAX!!!

And as you recall, those FR fares included the tax. And if you paid with a Electron card, there were no c/c fees either.

Nowadays it does not matter which payment method you're using, there are no credit card charges or anything like that. They were abolished a long time ago.

EU regulation forbids adding taxes after the advertised price, they must be included.

By the way, Wizzair is often just as cheap if not cheaper than Ryanair. I've had a few €5 flights with them and indeed that was all I paid for those flights. No taxes (they were already included) and no credit card charges.

my average fare in Europe is approximately 12€.

Including flights from Europe to Morocco, Israel, Georgia, Egypt, UAE and Jordan, it should be 15€.

It's mostly about flexibility, flying low demand flights and booking around 1-2 months before departure. (Double) fork flights can be also a good option.

Not counting the flights that were flown by using airline staff travel (the majority of my flights) and also not counting the flights for which I have no fare information recorded:

383 flights - total cost CHF 34'217.16

Thus average fare per flight was CHF 89.34 (equals EUR 83.22 / USD 96.28 at today's exchange rate).

Cost in CHF was calculated using the exchange rates valid at time of purchase.

Edit:
Last 10 years only / 99 flights / total cost CHF 6624.62 / CHF 66.92 (equals EUR 62.33 / USD 72.12)
