On which arline[s] have you flown the most?

Mon Oct 18, 2021 3:50 pm

As the various 'whose.. have you flown on..' threads have quietened down I thought I'd start a chain concerning the airlines we have flown with most.

This sort of presents a problem as to how you define the most, so for the purpose of this thread I have chosen three possible bases:

1 The total number of flights you have flown with any given airline - a journey on a single airline which has intermediate stops counts as one flight if you weren't required to change plane;

2 The total number of miles/nautical miles/kilometers you have flown with any one airline - the metric you use is your own choice but just use it consistently across all your airlines;

3 The average distance you have flown per flight with each airline - again any metric, just be consistent.

I suggest we post our top five airlines as calculated under any or all of the three bases.

Mine are:

Most flights:

Britsh Airways (148)
BMI/British Midland (18)
EasyJet (18)
Qantas (13)
VARIG (13)

Most nautical miles flown:

British Airways (126083)
Virgin Atlantic (43460)
Qantas (31253)
American (26257)
Malaysian Airlines (21668)

Highest average distance per flight:

Virgin Atlantic (5432)
Air Canada (4565)
Emirates (4510)
United (4320)
Thai Airways (4063)

I expect the numbers from our regular flyers will swamp mine and I am looking forward to seeing the numbers some of you throw out...

Re: On which arline[s] have you flown the most?

Number of flights:
Ryanair (17x)
Transavia (10x)
Wizzair (7x)
Norwegian (5x)
Air Holland (2x)
Condor (2x)
EasyJet (2x)
KLM Cityhopper (2x)
Vueling (2x)
SAS operated by Blue1 (1x)
Thai AirAsia (1x)

Distance:
Norwegian (19801 nm)
Ryanair (15375 nm)
Transavia (11886 nm)
Condor (3427 nm)
Wizzair (3288 nm)
Air Holland (2127 nm)
Vueling (2032 nm)
EasyJet (1439 nm)
KLM Cityhopper (1013 nm)
SAS operated by Blue1 (624 nm)
Thai AirAsia (305 nm)

Average distance per flight:
Norwegian (3960 nm)
Condor (1714 nm)
Transavia (1189 nm)
Air Holland (1064 nm)
Vueling (1016 nm)
Ryanair (904 nm)
EasyJet (720 nm)
SAS operated by Blue1 (624 nm)
KLM Cityhopper (507 nm)
Wizzair (470 nm)
Thai AirAsia (305 nm)

For flights I counted each segment, a return flight counts as two flights.

Despite the fact Ryanair is the airline I've flown the most, Norwegian is the airline I've flown the most miles on. That's because all long haul flights I've ever done were on Norwegian, out of the 5 flights I've had with them 4 were long haul.

Although I am from Lithuania and have been living (t)here my entire life, my flights list would suggest a different country of residence. well, this is where my trips took me (if I take a flight with an intermediate stop which is not a connection, such as Manado-Surabaya-Jakarta, I count it as one flight). I list only those airlines on which I have 5+ flights.
Air Asia: 25 flights (22 aircraft)
Turkish+Anadolu: 24 flights (24 aircraft)
Air New Zealand + all kinds of Mount Cook subsidiary Airlines: 18 flights (16 aircraft)
Lufthansa: 16 flights (16 aircraft)
Lion+Batik+Wings: 14 flights (14 aircraft)
LAN: 14 flights (13 aircraft)
QANTAS+all kinds of QANTASlinks: 14 flights (11 aircraft)
LOT+Eurolot: 13 flights (9 aircraft) SP-LDK will be persecuting me forever. no matter what happens and no matter where I fly I seem to get stuck with that frame...
Avianca: 11 flights (10 aircraft) including N591EL A318. damn lucky bastard 1 month before it went to scrappers
Emirates: 8 flights (8 aircraft)
GOL+Webjet: 8 flights (8 aircraft)
Aerolineas argentinas: 7 flights (7 aircraft)
Sriwijaya+Namair: 7 flights (7 aircraft) (including the doomed PK-CLC and all-survivors crashed PK-CJC)
Air Baltic: 7 flights (7 aircraft)
Malaysian+Maswings: 7 flights (6 aircraft)
Garuda+Citilink: 7 flights (6 aircraft)
Viva aerobus: 6 flights (6 aircraft)
Brussels: 6 flights (6 aircraftr)
Air China: 5 flights (5 aircraft)
TAP: 5 flights (5 aircraft)
Austrian: 5 flights (5 aircraft)
-------
in comparison:
Ryanair: 1 flight
EasyJet: 1 flight
Wizzair: stuck at zero

Oh Lord, I keep records of my flights, but not that detailed.

Most flown, WestJet by a long shot, followed by Air Canada, KLM, British Airways and Lufthansa.

No idea what my total number of miles I've flown with each.

Top favourites (of my most frequently used airlines) is still British Airways, followed by Air Canada, KLM. Lufthansa and WestJet.

I spread my flying out a lot and am loyal to no one. So out of nearly 900 airline segments it breaks down like this:

United: 81 (include 21 regionals)
Delta: 77 (include 14 regionals)
American: 69 (include 14 regionals)
Southwest: 47
US Airways: 42 (include 9 regionals)
Alaska: 29 (include 5 regionals)

By flights
1.DL 95
2.WN 41
3.NW 25

By distance
1.DL 62,583nm
2. WN 28,994nm
3. QF 18,705nm

That QF mile one is my favorite stat out of my 210+ commercial flights. Only have 4 commercial flights on them but they fall as #3 mileage wise. Most of my flights are concentrated in the eastern half of the US

Probably all time DL, but recent years AA (I have more Million Miler miles with AA than DL, but only joined SkyMiles in 2005 and AAdvantage in 2007, and this excludes SkyMiles award ticket trips that I have flown).

Not sure about average miles, but in terms of flights it's Lufthansa and American. I flew LH dozens of times when I was younger. I wouldn't be surprised if I did 100 flights with them. As for American, I've flown them 44 times (Once in Flagship Business, twice in Domestic First, once in MCE, 40 times in Main Cabin).

In terms of distance, Lufthansa might win due to sheer number of flights, but I've also flown 22,477 nautical miles transatlantically on AA. Domestically I've done 16, 438 Nautical miles for a total of 38,915 nautical miles traveled on AA.

Definitely United, though I don't have it calculated. Followed by American. Southwest and US Airways are up there, as is Lufthansa. Air Canada would run close to Lufthansa. Regionals are definitely led by SkyWest, followed by Republic/Shuttle America/Chautauqua.

Re: On which arline[s] have you flown the most?

While I`m an aviation geek, I don`t fly that often, so reading your numbers of flights, well, I`m a bit embarassed to post my meager count. But here it is:

- Lufthansa 5
- Condor 5
- British Airways 4
- SAS 2
- Easy Jet 2
