how come they are so much? because of available non-stop connection, better flying times, better fare?
how do you do your flight search? You put the whole country of "UK" into Skyscanner or kiwi.com?

Sometimes it's due to the cheaper fare, sometimes better timings, sometimes route simply not available from London, and sometimes because I can't face flying again with Ryanair from Stansted
Flight search - I use a combination of Wikipedia's airport pages, Google's "Show me all flights from XXX airport" search and FR24

As a passenger, KIAH in the last 37 years few with DL, PI and most on CO with then UA post merger....with two other flights during that time from KEFD on mileage/segment run...and two from KHOU not since 1987 on TranStar. Yes, I am that old and wouldn't trade a second of it to be young again!!

Negative, I moved to Orlando back in July of 2017, therefore from that point, the nearest airport that I would get to via ground transportation would, in fact, be MCO.

You win.
I live in a sprawling metropolis with many little aviation airports (greater Los Angeles) and I have only used ground transportation to 3 airports to fly to/from.
