why did some thought the boeing 747 advanced/8 wouldn't be build?

Hello, searching for thread and information (still looking for the 747 advanced freighter pic from the brochure, I only found the passenger variant) on the forum, there was some comment saying boeing wouldn't build it, why? Was the 747 already fadding away in the 2000'?
