I took a quick trip to PHX last week to visit colleges and booked flights the other day to visit family in Delaware. The PHX trip was nice since I got my first ride on an Alaska A321neo, and for BWI, my options were limited since tickets are expensive and the only nonstops on Alaska weren't cheap, but I got something decent on DL via ATL. Granted, all flights are on 737-900ERs and it's a redeye eastbound, but they gave me a free trial of Silver Medallion status so I was able to snag the exit row seats with unlimited legroom on all flights. Those will be my 1st long haul flights since the pandemic started. Also the 1st time flying the 77W since the pandemic started. Quick update as I ended up testing positive for Covid before going back to GRU, so forced to reschedule my flight. I ended up travelling back on March 21st with BA 247 (LHR-GRU). Was my first time flying the A35K which was awesome.

My ATL-SEA leg changed to a 757-300 recently, but it arrives in SEA close to midnight now which is a bit too late for my liking, so I changed my return legs to BWI-JFK-SEA on a CRJ-900/ex-TWA 757-200. Additionally, my SEA-YYZ flight is now on a 737 MAX 8 and some flight numbers changed around.

Finally getting back to some normal travel here - 2020 and 2021 were pretty light flying wise for me. Too much 737-900 which is IMO the most boring aircraft ever to grace our skies, the A32X series is exciting in comparison to the the 739. The 757 seems to be pulling back more and more from some of the hub to hub routes I am used to it being prevalent on (ATL-MSP) as well as the Florida routes where the 757 was king a short 2-3 years ago.

An update to my previous plan:

Had to change it as British Airways suffered through their early May schedule meltdown and the airline was completely unwilling to work with us in any way.

The new itinerary is:

SAN-SEA Delta 737-800
SEA-LHR Virgin Atlantic 787-900

LHR-JFK Virgin Atlantic A350-1000
JFK-SAN Delta 757-200

So not one, but TWO of my not-yet-flown-on airplanes are on the itinerary, along with a what-I-thought-was-a-type-no-longer-flying soon-to-be-gone-forever 757-200.

And coming back via JFK. Since the demise of Pan Am and TWA, who even does that anymore?

Despite the massive delays and monotmoy of LLCs I've suffered through this year, I was swayed by a Wizz Air sale today: DSA-CLJ for £97 at the August bank holiday - who knows if it'll be my last ever trip to DSA if the closure consulation goes the wrong way...

After moving back to Spain last year, a lot of my travel has been by bus/train/boat/car, so I haven't been flying much. Here's my flights:

2/21 IB553 A320SL SDR-MAD. Seat 15A, Y+ just behind the exit row. Flight time: 38min
2/24 IB8968 CRK MAD-SDR. Seat 24A, Y just ahead of the engines. Flight time: 39min. Had a misaligned window :cry:

7/29 IB8971 CRK SDR-MAD. Seat 14D, Y ahead of the wing.
Will spend the day seeing a friend who works at ATC before taking a train to SAL to see some family.

I'm also planning a London trip with FR. Hopefully one of the flights is on a MAX, just to see what it's like.

I spent an incredible day spotting from the tower. Easily the best planespotting I've done

(And of course I also visited the inside of the tower. Very interesting and very fun)

ZAN-DAR with Air Tanzania is part of the QR ticket, we were going to fly out of DAR anyway and make our own way there, but departing from ZAN reduced the cost by almost £100 per ticket.

I've not actually booked the Precision Air ARK-ZAN flight, I saw an E120 option, but it looked to be a lot more expensive! Anything else that you would recommend?

Summarizing my year of flying thus far, one can say the following: the most notable things were a pair of very short mainline flights (CHA-ATL and back, as part of a longer itinerary) and a short 757 flight (ATL-PIT). Everything else has been a blur of CRJs, 175s, 320s, and 737s. I got bored writing this post.
