do you see flight reviews as subjective or objective?

Sat Jan 01, 2022 1:20 pm

I'd say subjective because each reviewers have their own standards on what make a flight good even if they want to be the most objective possible their own state can still come in and the experience will vary with everyone, sometimes 2 aircraft from the same company can be in different state (sam chui had dirty and clean for his 2 srilankan arlines flight per example).

Depends entirely on the author of the review and how good they are at writing reviews

Even the one who writte their reviews well can still be not 100% objective, that's why I prefer to watch other reiews channels than just one

Only the first time flying passenger is objective.

Subjective.

Every person and every experience is different each and every time and filled with personal emotions at the time, either consciously or subconsciously.

I definitely consider them to be subjective, many times I read them and I just don't agree with them. Often they have unrealistic expectations which logically didn't come true, I would have been surprised if they did. Nonetheless, it might make the final judgement very different.

Reviews can give you a rough expectation what to expect on a certain airline but I don't put too much value on them, I consider my own judgement first.

something that I don't like with some people who complain about sam chui being bias is when they act as if other reviewer aren't when their taste and standard will influence their reviews as well and sam acknowledged airlines are going to use im for PR in his skytrax video and I do agree with him that other reviewers aren't objective (+even with his influlence he can still have mix stuff, cf his srilanka airlines video were he was on both a dirty and clean jet).

Oh, subjective definitely. If it's a video, I like to watch it myself and come to my own conclusions, not have some sort of "rating" system imposed by the creator.

Entirely subjective.

I typically turn off audio on video reviews and just scroll through for the pictures/video and draw my own conclusions. Same in reading the articles, I typically skip most of the text and look at the pictures. Much of the text and audio clearly shows a lot of insufferable people who clearly dont have much going for them in other "departments."

generally, we have a tendency to write reviews when something goes wrong but not when it goes right....
