You never fly out of airport but been visited airport

Wed Jan 19, 2022 6:35 am

Hello Folks:

Just interesting. Anyone who has never been on the flight out of the airport but you just look around the airport there.

My history is visited airports:

Ft Myers RSW.
Kenosha, WI ENW
Oshkosh,WI (EAA show) OSH
North Platte, NB BFF
Champaign, IL CMI
Kalamazoo, MI AZO
Alamosa, CO ALS
Colorado Springs, CO COS
Burbank, CA BUR
Waukegan, IL UGN
Milwaukee, WI Timmerman KMWC
Sandwich, IL IS65 (long time ago) I saw DC-3 with skydivers.
Sturgis, MI KIRS
Cleveland, TN Hardwick (closed recently)
Knoxville, TN downtown KDKX
St Petersburg, FL KPIE
Sarasota, FL (kind of not in terminal watching outside side of runway) KSRQ
Vacaville, CA Nut Tree KVCB

I think that's all I have been airports.

I'm gonna post it here because that thread is already 6+ months old.
New Orleans Lakefront (NEW/KNEW)
Hammond/Northshore (HDC/KHDC)
Boeing Field (BFI/KBFI)
Salamanca Matacán (SLM/LESA)
I'm pretty sure those are all for me.

But still, to keep it all in one place, that's where you should have posted it. Not here.

Makes me wonder why this threat isn't closed like it was supposed to. Where are the moderators when you need them?

Not many, when I was by Palm Beach for work and it finished early I headed to PBI. Same with RSW, was driving by decided might as well check it out.

Guess another airport would be Tamiami Executive, and Belfast Municipal (Belfast Maine).

I made a point of visiting two unusual airports: Shannon (SNN) and Basel/Mulhouse (BSL, MLH) which has separate customs and immigration for France and Switzerland.

Hi and many thanks for the question. Also sorry I haven't been through the whole thread yet but I guess if curious my 2 cents to start before that maybe...

So I guess most of these kind of visits I did maybe between 2000-2010 when I was often really into plane watching but not so much flying.

Around here in the UK I really liked Norwich for some reason and Southampton. And I went to an airfield called Fairoaks but never flew out or into it.

But I'm sure there must be more and I also have a few where initially for years I just watched and then only later was a passenger. Places like Flughafen Zurich and Toulouse Blagnac in Switzerland and France. And funnily I think sometimes to be honest my watching memories were and maybe still are better than the flying and travelling experiences on those(!)

Anyway hope this might come out ok and many thanks again,

Pierre (Ps762)

When I lived in KLU there were 4 daily SO F50s to VIE, 2 Tyrolean Dash-8s to FRA and a few charters to Turkey: maybe 2 per week on Hapag Lloyd.

LJU was only 40 mi away and every time i had a rental car i made the dash over the mountain pass into Slovenia to catch the JP MD-80 fleet which was way more interesting than my local commuter props - never flew from there tho'

Last night, I pop up my mind. I forgot. I visited the airport by driving through Harrisburg, PA (KMDT) in 90's.

In addition to visiting DLH (Duluth International Airport) in the early 2000s that I mentioned in the older thread, I remember also visiting VIE in 2015, but I didn't do any plane spotting. I only went there to exchange my Hungarian Forint for Euros.
