Your Most Flown Airline?

Mon Apr 18, 2022 6:51 pm

Since this is an aviation forum which airlines have you flown on the most?

1. SAS 686 flights
2. Lufthansa 103
3. Widerøe 69
4. Air NZ 46
5. Norwegian 44

Why did you put it in the non-av forum then? :D
While I don't keep track of flights, my top three airlines would be DL, NW and UA.

It's probably a tossup between DL and AA. Throughout my childhood it was probably DL. Recent years it has been more often AA. Based on my Million Miler balance with the airlines AA comes on top, but I have taken award tickets on DL in the past (which since last year DL will count towards MQMs and thus Million Miler). Your Million Miler balance with the airlines with your FF program might give you a somewhat of a hint, although it won't include award tickets with most airlines. Also, DL will no longer count Basic Economy towards Million Miler, MQMs, or regular SkyMiles.

Probably a tossup between Delta and United. My younger days I flew a lot of Continental, US airways, and Northwest, so technically I could push American up a bit as well.
However now, it is mostly Delta and United.

I think the best forum for such questions is the Travel, Polls forum… just saying.

Holy cow! SK/LH combined almost 800 flights… If you are traveling since let’s say 40 years then this is equal to about 20 flights per year… impressive!

Easily WestJet.

Haven't kept count or detailed logged flights since I was a kid but if I had to guess, between 2014 and 2018, I booked about a good 75 flights a year on them. The real kicker was that not once was I able to log a flight on either of the Disney birds. Still got a crap load of WS Dollars to burn.

God, I miss rotational work.

If one counts America West-US Air (Airways)- American as one then this combo comes out on top since I moved to PHX..When I lived in extreme NW California it was United, United, or United. Internationally there really isn't a true #1- since it depended on what was the destination; FJ, TN, TE now NZ, CI, TG, QF, LH, AF, SR, etc..

Whoops I didn't think it was a serious enough question for the civil aviation forum, it can be moved if a mod wants to do that.

Most of my flying has been since 2007. Total flights if I include the next two weeks will be 1099.

The reason I keep track is every time I reapply for my residence visa they ask where I have travelled to and for how long I have been away each trip for the previous 10 years.

Delta 63
United 60
American 55
not including regionals

Ryanair by a wide margin. Those 1, 10 or 20 euro flights were irresistible back in the day.

These days:

Southwest/Delta.

1. Ryanair 303
2. Easyjet 245
3. British Airways 75
4. Flybe 27
5. Norwegian Intl 26
6. Wizzair 23
7. Wizzair UK 20

When you pay personally for flight tickets, and there is no business expense account, cheap tickets and LCCs become VERY appealing

If you don't have a raw count, you can get an idea with your Million Miler balances with each airline, although it won't include award bookings.

Earliest DL flights I recall were back in 1992 on HNL-SFO (L-1011), SFO-ATL (763), ATL-SJU (L-1011), SJU-ATL (752), and ATL-HNL (L-1011). I believe I had a few AA flights prior to then.

In terms of number of segments, and including regional airlines operating under their brand:

United 57
Delta 35
Continental 16
American 9
JetBlue 8

Interesting that Continental is still in my top 5 even though they've been defunct for over a decade now. But they were my preferred airline for a while prior to the United merger.

About half of all my flights have been with United.

Hi,

Firstly many thanks for the thread and sorry this is just kind of a tester post of sorts since I have sadly not posted on ANet for maybe 10 years. Also sadly I am now sightless and doing this with a screen reader so hope that is ok and this works ok and stuff.

But sorry to try and get back to the question my number one would probably have been Ryanair at like maybe around 50 flights I guess. I did quite a variety of airlines in total but I guess never huge numbers since I never really flew anywhere for work. But at least I made quite a few ANet trip reports from my Ryanair days(!)

Anyway hope this may work and nice to (hopefully!) be back on ANet a bit again,

My mother worked for Eastern when I was a kid. Can honestly say I flew at least 50 trips. Four times on L-1011 #329 alone.

Runners up..
JetBlue
Southwest
Delta

For me, the number 1 answer is quite obvious lol. Full list is as follows:

1. Icelandair (367 flights)
2. Flugfélag Íslands - Air Iceland (47 flights)
3. jetBlue Airways (36 flights)
4. Southwest Airlines (21 flights)
5= British Airways (16 flights)
5= Delta Air Lines (16 flights)

Total number of airlines flown currently stands at 104.

Until September of last year, it was American Airlines. From Bakersfield or LAX or San Diego to Fort Smith, Arkansas via DFW is still the most heavily traveled single route, with DFW-FSM the most in my records.

United took over that title on my last SAN-IAH-LIT trip, surpassing it by one.

The irony, though, of this topic isn't lost on me, because even though AA is still high on my "flights flown", it will never again appear on my "upcoming flights" list. It will take Delta a while to catch up to #2, but eventually someone will take that spot.

I don't have the exact numbers, but the two front runners by far would be Air New Zealand and Qantas followed by Ansett New Zealand, Lufthansa, and Singapore Airlines behind that would be Brussels Airlines, Canadian Airlines and Malaysian and then most other airlines would be four flights or fewer

Hi,

Just quickly to say many thanks for the response here. So obviously I don't want to totally take over this thread as it's about most flown airlines but it definitely is appreciated and nice to be back. Amazing how much one can miss even just the chit-chat if away for ages(!)

Anyway back to it hopefully I guess but with many thanks again to yourself and everyone here,

P.S. If by chance any of my posts do turn out totally weird in terms of fonts or formatting or anything please anyone just feel free to let me know it's not a big thing for me to look into.

Since the mid- to late-80s, it's been Delta overall and more specifically in the last 8 years. Feels strange when I board another airline's planes.

Just as an update, this year I am back to flying DL again, with a trip in January, one last month, and one upcoming in December and January. The difference between DL's and AA's product is like night and day. I kind of missed flying DL when I was flying AA a lot. Plus I know have a DL SkyMiles Amex Gold card, with plans to upgrade to Platinum later this year, although I will be keeping my Barclays AAdvantage Aviator Red as well.

Ryanair (196) and KLM (106) are my only triple digit airlines. Five more airlines are double digit and follow with a huge gap: Easyjet (30), Lufthansa (20), Air France (14), Air Berlin (14) and Venezuela's Aeropostal in the good old days (13, all pre-1998).
