Almost none. Just Salt Lake City I think.
And Bahrain I’ve never visited the city as well as I would like - first time was in 2011 and so I had limited freedom of movement for safety reasons and saw really very little.

Good grief, I did it again...I think my fingers are getting too fat for the keyboard anymore. Like Homer Simpson, gaining extra weight so he can work from home on disability.

Stuttgart is STR, which I always think is Strasbourg, France. But even after checking it, I guess my big fat index finger hit T a second time instead of an R.

It is proof, though, that people read these things. Thanks for picking up on that!

DXB, DOH, HKG and UPG for me.

Some rather weird one:
- CPH: I've been to the city, I've had had stop overs at the airport, but never entered the airport. How? 2 words: Øresund bridge :D

- SUB: I've landed at the airport like a million time since I was a baby, but never went to the city because we always immediately took a ride to visit my grandma in Malang (~100km away) before they open the IAF airbase to commercial flights. Fast forward 28 years later in 2020, I first stepped my foot in the city. Kinda nice, but it was blazing hot!

- CGK: my own home airport! CGK technically isn't located in Jakarta, but it in the city of Tangerang. Never been to Tangerang my whole life and based on the stories I've heard, hopefully never will ahahaha!

DFW, IAH, YYC, ICN/GMP (I'm not counting the transit between as a visit to Seoul), SIN, NRT are the only ones that I can think of. NRT will drop off the list this November.

I've transited via LHR and FRA numerous times yet never seen those cities in person (aside from doing an overnight layover at a hotel near LHR once).

Hi,

Firstly just to say many thanks and I guess just a couple for me. Not sure why though, I guess when I used to fly more I never really wanted to do connections or if I did would rather stay a few days if I could. Priveledges of leisure travelling during those times maybe? But anyway I guess if curious hopefully:

1. Dallas/DFW. I guess my only real one around the mid-90s I often favoured American Airlines for flying summer trips to the US. I definitely remember changing planes there in the summer of 95 to proceed to Orlando to stay with an old schoolfriend who's family moved there when kids. Lots of Disney visits!

2. I'm not sure if a refuelling stop counts but in January 1996 my Air New Zealand flight from LAX to Nadi in Fiji I think stopped to refuel in the middle of the night at Honolulu/HNL. I think we all had to deplane for that process and I think I snapped a pic of the nice open-style (but very quiet at that time) terminal there. And of course being a big Magnum PI fan I was super-excited and I think tried to step out the door for a few seconds to breathe the air and imagine I was Tom Selleck for a few seconds(!)

Anyway hope that came out ok and with greets and thanks,

Not that much:
IAH, ZRH, ATL, LDE, LAX, LIG, FRA, PMI and maybe I could add BVA since it's not really Paris anymore but that's a grey zone

Now they are also a few times I did visit the city arriving by bus/train/car whatever and transited at the airport but I never left any of these airports:
LIS, AGA, FAO, BOD, RAK, AMS, LIN

Bangkok (BKK) & Ballina (BNK)

The latter one is worth noting as I originally planned to visit Ballina for a holiday but had to cancel as something came up in Melbourne - it ended up being cheaper to book a flight from BNK-MEL then to cancel or move the SYD-BNK flight, so I ended up travelling from Sydney to Melbourne via Byron Bay.

I just thought of two more, that I forgot earlier:

LIR on 5C (Nature Air)
SFJ on GL

I had a stop at LIR on the way to TNO. I also changed busses in Liberia a few times, but I never visited the city.

For SFJ one could argue that there is no city to be visited. If you saw the airport you saw almost all.

LUN (flew in on a Cessna 402, out on a Malawian Q400 - that was cool)
BKO (Didn't leave the plane in either direction between DSS and ADD)
VNX (transited to a Helicopter to Benguerra Island)

I've been through NRT probably 20 times, and I've never left the airport.
I'm clearly missing something here... it's embarrassing. Haven't been through in years, but it's a vacation goal in the next couple of years. COVID screwed the plan up.

In order of known occurrence:

IAH (SFO-IAH-MCO and back in 2002)
BOS (SFO-BOS-LHR in 2005 and SFO-BOS-BWI in 2019)
DFW (LGW-DFW-SFO in 2005)
CHC (AKL-CHC-ZQN in 2005)
NRT (SJC-NRT-MNL and back in 2005-2006)
FRA (SFO-FRA-LJU in 2014)
ARN (OAK-ARN-CPH and ORY-ARN-OAK in 2016)
OSL (OAK-OSL-ORY in 2017)

NRT almost made it off this list with a vacation planned during March 2020, and you know the rest.

I had all day layovers in IAH and CPH and went out into the city to explore it, but I’ve never spent the night there. Is that a visit?

MSP will get removed from that list in a few months
