Most used runways for landing at LGA?

Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:57 pm

Which runway is the most frequently used for landings at LGA?

I have an impression it's 22, but wanted to hear from people who know the place better.

Thanks.

In my personal experience, without any actual data to back this up, it's:

1) 22
2) 4
3) 31
4) 13

I'm sure someone has actual numbers out there.

Yeah, 22 is easily most common.

I'd say 31 is a fair bit more common than 4 in my experience.

22

13 and from the south is a bit rare, but the most scenic approach you've done in your life. You come right down the Hudson, usually after flying right by the Statue of Liberty if you're arriving via the STAR to the south. Landing on 4 is particularly cool out the left side as well.

It's always landing 4 when you come from the north, and landing 22 when you come from the south, because the vectors are extra-long and very low. It's the Curse of the Bambino, I guess. LGA is an animal I don't really like getting to know

I think it may be easier to depart 4 and land 31 than vice versa, for traffic management or ATC reasons, but I'm not sure. It has seemed like a more common config.
