What aircraft type do you associate with a particular airline?

Wed Jun 15, 2022 5:43 pm

This is the reverse of the "what airlines do you associate with a particular type" thread from a few months back.
Here's mine. I'm going to list the airlines I've flown on, in alphabetical order:

Alaska: 737 or Dash 8 in the old livery.
American: MD-80 or 752 in the Bare Metal livery.
BA: 747-400 in the Chatham Dockyard livery (I like Landor better, though)
Brussels: Avro RJ-100
Croatia: Dash 8
Delta*: 744 in the 3d Widget livery or 727 in the Wavy Gravy livery.
* I haven't actually flown on DL, but I've visited their museum and been on N102DA and N661US
Frontier: A319 in the old livery.
Iberia: A340-600 in the old livery. IB and the A346 go hand in hand.
JetBlue: the first one I think of is the E190, but the A320 to me is more the face of jetBlue. Hopefully future generations will see the (far better) A220 as the face of B6.
Lufthansa: I really want to say D-ABYT, but the A320 in the old livery is what I associate Lufthansa with.
Spirit: A320 in the Banana livery.
Turkish: 737-900
United: 747-400 in the Battleship Grey livery.
Via Air: E145

I may be forgetting some airlines.
Anyway, which are yours?

Btw, it doesn't have to be just the airlines you've flown if you want to add more.

100% agree on these two. For me Delta will always be an MD88, 717, or 752

United (new) - B739
United (of old) - 757
Continental - ERJ-145 babyyy, there were a few years it seemed everything was flown by ExpressJet.
TWA - L1011
AA - MD82
Allegiant - MD81 with maintenance issues lol

And yet, despite all the iterations of Frontier, now I just see them as an uncomfortable A320neo.

Before moving to Australia it was the B744 for QF. Now living here and in the general area of the SYD flightpath, it's the B738.

For years it was the MD-83 for AA when living in Chicago.

For NZ it's the B789. Just because my office is near SYD and during lunch, I always see their B789 departing at 12ish. Even when NZ operates their entire fleet from the A320 to the B77W into SYD.

Weird I thought I posted here. I won’t list types where the airline only has 1 fleet type.

AA: MD80
DL: 757
UA: 737

BA: 747
QF: 747
AF: a330
LH: a340 and 747. They do have a lot of 4-holers
FX: DC/MD10

It’s all based on personal experience and where you are I suppose.
