easyJet flight cancellation compensation

Mon Jul 11, 2022 8:10 pm

Does anyone have experience of how long it takes easyJet to fork out for expenses ( hotel and new flights ) when they
cancel your flight ? Claimed 7 weeks ago now, heard nothing except given a reference number.
Appreciate they have more than normal to deal with currently.
Thanks.

TC - I think you need to write a nasty letter to Easyjet HQ, addressed to the company secretary (look on Companies House website) with some words, in big bold capitals, like
"LETTER BEFORE ACTION - YOU MUST PAY MONEY WITHIN SEVEN CALENDAR DAYS OR ACTION MAY BE TAKEN THROUGH THE COURTS. YOU MAY HAVE TO PAY ADDITIONAL MONEY AS PART OF THE COURT PROCESS"
Not a nice thing to do... but usually quite effective

Or, if you can't be bothered, have a chat with Bott & Co

Thanks. I already have Bott & Co on the case for easyJet wriggling out of the EU261 compensation for the cancellation.
May just add the expenses claim to this.

My experience they are not very good. Try their best to weasel out of everything. I was on the phone a fair few times before they reimbursed me, on a premium rate line, and then they reimbursed me the amount in a foreign currency that was worth less.

Had queit a few cancellations during 2020 and 2021 and received it within the two weeks - never more than three.
It took Ryanair about 9 weeks this year to compensate me for a delay that they immediatle acknowledged was there fault - I had to keep going on web-chat and kept asking for it to be esculated, which it did. I'd also suggest sending an old-fashioned letter to easyJet as well

I recieved easyJet's expense claim refund in around 6-7 weeks. Just lost a bit on the exchange rate they used ( CHF to GBP ) but still at least they forked out what was due to me for stranding me in ZRH. Not happy they wriggled out of the EU261 compensation payment, so I have Bott & Co claiming that on my behalf.
