I saw many a 747-400 at DTW waiting to takeoff, usually for NRT. Always an impressive looking bird.

I think an A380-900 would've had the correct proportions for that aircraft.

IMO Airbus probably should've only built the 900, especially since the 800 uses the wingbox designed for said 900. But that's for another thread.

Always been partial to the 767-400 as well. The higher main gear with the nose down stance and raked winglets makes it just look quick.

At SAA, we would regularly depart ATL for JNB with 176 000kg of gas and at MTOW. She would eat up that runway before getting airborne with that true 747 grace. ATL Tower would often give us a “good job Springbok” before handing us over. Nice memories.

How many times did the 744 actually make ATL-JNB nonstop? I thought that it stopped in Cape Verde or someplace, but I thought I heard somewhere that it could barely make it nonstop if winds are in favor and seats were blocked.
