Has anyone on this website ever flown FI’s business class on the MAX 8, and if so, is it worth the price?
I'm both an employee of Icelandair and a Saga Gold frequent flyer card holder, so keep in mind that my opinion may not be unbiased.
The hard product is similar to domestic First in the US, with 2-2 recliner chairs and generous legroom. For a 5-6 hour dayflight that's perfectly fine, but do keep in mind that for the red-eye over to KEF you don't have lie flat seating. Usually, the fair pricing compared to more expensive "true" Business Class flights reflect that.
However, the soft product is really good. The food on North American routes is usually outstanding and distinctively Icelandic, while the Saga Lounge in Keflavik is definitely up to par with more premium airlines elsewhere. Also, having fast track and dedicated check-in lanes in KEF is a real perk during the peak season as it means you can arrive 60-75 minutes ahead of your flight rather than having to plan to be at the airport 2+ hours ahead of departure. Of course, if you have the time I'd recommend arriving a bit early and relaxing at the lounge before departure.
Finally, if you have any specific questions about Icelandair's product (or travelling to Iceland in general) feel free to drop me a line in a PM! I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have and advise you on things to do here, of which there are plentiful. Hopefully we'll see you on the inaugural next summer!
