SXM to St. Barths Which Airline / STOL aircraft type ?
Hello all, couldn't find a previous thread about this, although probably exists somewhere. Last time I was in SXM wasn't able to make the trip to St. Barths due to weather. I'm going back to SXM in June, and I was wondering, which airline/ STOL aircraft type would be the best to go? There are several options, Winair with the Twin Otters, SB Commuter with the Cessna Caravan, other airlines that can't remember now going with the Pilatus PC12 and BN Islander....someone with an anecdote or a recommendation around here ? I flew back and forth a few times 20 years ago - so not very current, but the Twin Otter’s big windows would win it for me!
My journeys were in a Do228 of the long-defunct ‘Air St Martin / St. Barth’ and a Bell 206, which we never got billed for as the helicopter pilot was sent down for smuggling not long after (…yup!) - all to/from Grand Case, rather than SXM though.
