Does anyone know what the longest flight has ever been either scheduled or in an emergency diversion for a commercial wide body ? From one small island to another ?
No charters.
Can anyone come up with the longest possible flight time for a scheduled commercial route from a small island on a wide body that could be diverted realistically to another small island ?
I’m guessing SIN to somewhere ?

Depends a bit on how you define "small island"... There are quite a few major airports that are on "islands".
Technically HKG and YVR are both on islands. HKG-YVR could divert to somewhere like KIX which is also on an island.
SIN-NAN might be more along the lines of what you are thinking and could divert to somewhere like NOU.

Azores Airlines flies Ponta Delgada to Bermuda, I think that qualifies.

Honolulu, Hawaii to Papeete, Tahiti is around 5 hours and 50 minutes
Rapa Nui, Easter Island to Papeete, Tahiti is around 21 hours and 45 minutes ( This is not a direct flight and has 2 stops, however it is 21 hours and 45 minutes actual flight time )

There have been direct flights on that route in the past. Apparently the route has been scrapped but back when it was still flown I believe 5 hours flight time sounds about right.

PS I found another fun one, Blue Islands operates a seasonal flight Jersey to Palma de Mallorca. Not as long as those pacific routes but it does connect two small islands.
And in the Indian Ocean there are direct flights from Mahé (Seychelles) to Mauritius, Reunion and Malé (Maldives).

There are flights from FAE to PMI and the Canary Islands - the latter must be approaching 5 hours of flying time.
Cubana used to operate HAV-TFN (IIRC) with the Il-62 - that's 4,086 miles

Honolulu to Guam and an unusual example years ago was a non stop from the Falkland Islands to London, I think that was a BA 744

Even with a bridge it is surrounded by water, therefore by definition it is an island.

So would you consider SXM to be on an island or not, given that you could drive a car to the airport.

Of course. Sint Maarten / Saint Martin is way out in the ocean. Singapore and New York not so much.

Years ago there was a British Caledonian 747 from Puerto Rico to LGW. Also BA flew this route in the 90s with DC-10s I think.

Great Britain, the island where LGW is located, is not quite small. In fact it's the 9th largest island in the world.

Clearly “small island” needs to be defined better, or categorized.
I.e., smallest island not to exceed X square miles in size and also not less than X miles from the nearest shore with a coastline greater than X miles in length.
Oh yes, and have you ever heard of the coast line paradox? Even before this it is very much a problem figuring out a very subjective question.

Drive your car from where? Of course you can drive your car from Singapore city to Changi Airport, they are both located on the island of Singapore (which is not a large island in terms of land mass). If you meant that you could drive from the Malay peninsular to the island of Singapore, then I guess you’d need to define how far off-shore you would need to go to consider a land mass an “island”.
