Hi folks...
Here's a light-hearted topic, not to be taken seriously. There is no grand prize, nor will any aircraft be considered the best or the worst. It's just for fun only. I hope I've listed all known tri-jets here whether they'll be commercial or business. All replies welcome. BTW, my fav trijet is the DC-10. Wink/being sarcastic

For me - Lockheed Tristar, without a doubt. Beautiful aircraft, it's just a shame there weren't more of them built. Without the oil crisis in the 70s and the financial problems at Lockheed and Rolls-Royce during development, it could have done so much better.

What about the Trislander? Not a jet I know, and also probably no-ones favourite, but just though I would mention it!

I am with FlytoEGCC on this one. The Tristar was just a beautiful aircraft. Very safe, incredibly advanced for its time. It should have sold better. Damn that pesky DC10! Smile

My favorite would have to be the Dassault Falcon 900. It always has been one of my favorite jets. Plus, you have to like those three holers and when it comes to business jets there aren't to many others to choose from

For some reason, I never really got into the L1011. I think its ugly (especially the snoot). One thing is for sure though.. The L1011 sounds the best during takeoff. Smile/happy/getting dizzy

2.) BN-2A-MKIII Britten Norman Trislander

And my favorite that I flew only as a passenger
the L-1011.

I've ridden the 727 (UA), DC-10 (UA), and L-1011 (DL) all only one time in my life (sigh). My favorite was the L-1011!

Guess im then only G/A person to reply to this post. As a soon to be ATC and while doing that a charter pilot/instructor, I will vote for the Falcon 50 Smile

One sweet aircraft with remarkable performance. 84 Lumber has one at my local field thats is 3500ft which yeah is within limits, but still pretty good since we have no ILS and putting that thing down in some good crosswinds on 3500ft is some good piloting skills. Anywho thats my 2 cents

Whilst the DC10 and Tristar were both excellent aircraft, my favorite by far would be the Hawker Siddeley Trident, backbone of BA's (then BEA) short-haul fleet in the 70s. When you were on the Trident you really felt that you were flying - the struggle of the aircraft to get airborne (Trident pilots said the only reason the Trident took off was because of the earth's curvature!), the reverse thrust always employed on landings and best of all those rear-facing seats at the front of Economy. Seems I the only person who favors the Trident but that is possibly because it was a poor-selling aircraft outshadowed by the 727 which copied the basic Trident design and only seen in Europe and later China.

The Tristar without a doubt, I miss the sound of them at Man on the charter flights, the sound of the No2 engine with its distinct "boom" as it starts up. I am torn between the MD11, just wish there were more of them.

The L1101 has a distinctive charm something about the "s ducting" it was also very sopphisticated for its time,pity more of theses great aircraft wernt produced.
