If I'd been asked this question at age 20 (I'm now 41 - God help me!), I would have said the
HS Trident. All marques - one, two and three. All ex
LHR to various European capital cities. I loved them - a real quirky a/c with Rolls Royce Spey engines that sounded absolutely fab on take-off. A real whiz-sound and very exciting. Especially the Trident three, which in fact had four engines - an additional booster engine used at take off mounted at the aft end of the fuselage.
However, times change, and the L1011 came along and
BA used to use this on the
LHR-
CDG route which I flew on regularly. Nowadays, it's a toss-up between the B772 and A332, since I regularly cross the pond and use either
BD's
MAN-
ORD/
IAD or
UA on
LHR-US routes. The 772 is actually winning at the moment. I like them both though, so I'm not starting an AvB argument here, you'll be pleased to know. They're different but they're both great. (I have to confess though,
BD beat
UA in cabin service!)
