STL sucks i mean we have the small regional jets like US Airways Express
and the flights on Southwest always land on time but u can't do anything
British Airways used to go there so they say on BA.com but I've never seen one so never go to STL there's nothing there.

Nothing in STL? You don't know where to look! People need to get out and find their own fun, it's not going to come to you sitting in a hotel room.

What about DCA or IAD in Washington, DC?

I see a lot of flight crews coming into DC from IAD on international flights (i.e. ANA, etc.)

Any thoughts?

Where do the airlines usually stick crews here in TPA? I hope not the Ashley Plaza Hotel, its a drag on Tampa. In Boston I see many Delta employees at the Park Plaza on Arlington.

RUH for PR F/As without a doubt...or anywhere in Saudi Arabia. Female PR flight attendants often talk about this being the most undesirable destinations because of cultural differences and such during their stay in Riyadh. Covered from head to toe, escorted wherever you go, curfews...my aunt who is a PR F/A talks about it like it's a prison. Not to mention the flight back to Manila...a plane full of repressed overseas contract workers who just drown themselves in alcohol.

FLYSSC, JFK-CDG is unpopular at AA for the same reasons, but F/As are willing to do it for the layover. You pay dearly on the flight there, but Paris has its rewards once you're there.

Other difficult flights at AA, for passenger rudeness-

JFK-MIA
LGA-MIA
LAX-MIA
JFK-AUA
JFK-KIN
JFK-SDQ
JFK-STI

ODAFZ : CDG-ATH = rude PAX (never say "hi !" nor "thanks", always up in the aisle during the service, try to seat in business class, smoke in the toilets, don't want to sit down and fasten when asked etc... )

CDG-GVA = CDG-NCE, even worse is NCE-GVA : "rich Bourgeois" PAX, arrogant, always complain about everything (one of them event complained to me last week because we were 10 minutes ahead of schedule !  Nuts )

I'm sure EK crew hate the DXB-DEL sector, and return. They don't overnight in DEL, but the people on this flight can be really hard to control. There is a huge rush to push to the door when boarding, and getting off. They leave their mobiles on till the plane is lined up with the runway. Turn them on the moment the rubber hits the runway, and stand up straight away.

SQ crew overnight at the Hyatt in Delhi. It's a nice hotel, but I can't really tell you if they like Delhi as a stop or not.

I have heard F/A's complain about PBI and LGA, I dunno why though.
LGA has a "rough" crowd of passengers usually, and I imagine that PBI might as well. Almost all of my to/from LGA flights are operated by New York-based flight crew, and probably done so that they can keep a hold on the passengers.

"How many times can one go to Disney ?"

Americans can go there over and over, like every month !

Consider the size of the United States and then consider the size of the big European Countries. Consider that it is practically impossible to spend more than $300 on air-fare to MCO and then consider the cost of traveling within the EU.

Europeans go there once or twice in their life, just to see what's happening there, and that's it !
Tha's one of the reasons of "Euro Disneyland" failure.... but that's another topic...

Disneyland is a lot closer to Americans than Europeans, and Euro Disneyland can be a pain to get to, unlike MCO with numerous flights.

Not everyone goes to MCO for Disney, as some have family there.

Let me see .. I stay away from AUA (NOT like it used to be.Still beautiful but just infested with American Tourists (think Long Island) wearing sweatsuits (tracksuits for us Brits!), wearing banana clips in their hair and chewing gum!!)

Also I stay away from MBJ/KIN..Crime rate high,Usually can never leave the compound and just working the flight alone makes me stay away.Quite a few of the above mentioned people on the flight as well as it seems Jamaicans that think you are racist (Before anyone jumps down my throat!! I know not all Jamaicans are like this, In fact I've had great experiences with a lot of them BUT why do they throw racism out all the time?? even at African American F/As???)

Also I stay away from ZRH......It's a beautiful city but just too expensive to do anything.Usually the crews are really senior also on this flight and do their own thing or stay behind the door in the hotel.

On a different note I love GRU/GIG/LHR/CCS/EZE and miss MAN a lot.

Hey I resent that NYCAAer!! MIA passengers aren't rude...we just know better!!! hahahahaha kidding...it can be tough, some passengers are a bit tough. Also these flights are always full, so passengers get restless fast.

I must admit, I have always gotten excellent service from AA on the MIA-LGA routes which I fly often. Also got superb service on the AA MIA-CDG flight, complimentary drinks and all in COACH!!!!!!!!!!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

As my niece is working for SN, I know destinations such as Kinshasa and Abidjan are quite difficult !! Arrogant pax who think they are in a restaurant rather than in a plane.

The same could be said for Scandinavia flights when those are tourists flights. Many of them tend to drink, drink, drink, drink, and the become so stupid and arrogant. I guess the fact they fly on a carrier where alcohol is free of charge helps a lot.

Flights to TLV, IST and CMN aren't easy either.

flyingKangaroo: I have flown this sector on EK and it is not at all as bad as you say it is. The only problem with Gulf-India flights is that people tend to bring a lot of luggage on board. Their behaviour otherwise, is pretty ok.

Never argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

DIJKKIJK...

I know what you mean about baggage. I flew DXB-DEL late Saturday night/Sunday morning, and people thought they could bring-as carry on baggage- large suitcases, that you or I could live out of for weeks! About twenty people had to check their baggae in because the pieces were to large.

What makes you say it isn't as bad a I say? I've flown it 4 times now, and each time the flight number is mentioned in any call, even if it isn't a boarding call, everyone surges forward. On Saturday evening, they didn't even make a boarding call! They just opened the door and let everyone surge through!

I think PRG has a potential to become quite unpopular destination, especially among LLC flight attendants. I wish you'd see the state of the British guys returning home after long-weekend of heavy drinking in Prague, you can't help feeling sorry for the FAs

Least favorites:

New York
Tampa
Miami
Washington
Dallas
Virginia
Denver

Some of these places is because of the people. Other times it's because of the hassle getting to the layover hotel, location, and what's there to do on a layover.

I hate the heat, so I stay away from layovers like Miami, Tampa, and other place like that as much as possible. I can count on one hand the times I have had a layover in NYC, Miami and some of these places in my career.

As for NYC, too crowded, too fast, too much depressing things going on. People honk horns wherever, whenever they want. It takes an hour or more each way to the hotel, which sucks. Too much traffic, just too MUCH!!! So the better is to stay away from a place like that.

I would say that the BEST layovers are airports CLOSE to the DOWNTOWN
area's.

Can you imagine staying at Mirabel or Denver?

I know several current and retired AA pilots based out of ORD. It seems the #1 least liked city is MIA. Between the airport always being under construction and never being in a hotel near South Beach, it's just not well liked.

Popular cities, provided you aren't at an airport hotel, are BOS, New York, SAN, SFO, SAT, and LAS.

Braniff1960,

You won't have to worry about Mirabel come next November. Air Transat, one of the sole passenger operators out of YMX is pulling out and shipping all its operations to YUL. Theye started building their headquarters in YUL a couple of months ago! There are still a couple of charter flights that land in YMX, like Corsair, Skyservice and Air Plus Comet, but I'm guessing the'll soon follow the move of Air Transat!

from what I hear from YX it's definately LGA - YX overnights them right near the airport and the F/A's are either too broke to scared to catch a cab into Manhattan.

I do remember that gals from IB staying at the Intercontinental Miami last time I was there, great location, even better IB beauties...

Just been talking to my friend who is a crew member and he says the most unpopular destination in Europe is TFS hands down - passengers are undesirable, drunk on both the outward and return legs, the 18-30s are screaming for sex and passengers are generally demanding always wanting a drink or something else. Night flights are the worse.

Im sure
SJU-JFK, SJU-MIA, SJU-MCO is not a thrill ride for AA f/a's- SJU-JFK is either full of drunk cruise pax or full of people who are unwilling to fallow f/a instructions. SJU-MCO is full of noisy kids- especially during the summer (dont get me wrong I love kids, hell I even work at a school) but kids on this flight are runing all over the aisle their parent dont seem to care- and some adults decide to behave worst than the kids themselves. But Im sure some F/a's either love stopping for a night in San Juan and some must hate it, its good for shopping and for men and female catching, but it can also be an annoying city.

Ckfred--Your pilot friends aren't staying at the right place in MIA. There is an all-crew hotel on the beach and I've NEVER gotten to bed before 5 a.m. on a layover there.  Nuts

NWAFA--If you stay downtown in IND, it gets hopping frequently. The layover was one of the most popular for the TWA FA's.TC

I am from DTW and I can understand why the layover would suck, but I live here and its ok.

Least favorite layovers are:

NRT (its Narita not Tokyo)
AMS its seedy and dirty. I don't feel safe there.
ORD I detest the long trek to the hotel shuttle pickup
YYZ always overly crowded airport

I like
MSN nice choice of restaurants
LAN, GRR close to decent food
NGO lots of life in the city
PEK great food and shopping
HKG beautiful city
MSP short layover is by the Mall of America (food, shopping, movies)
Long layover is downtown close to bars, ethnic food
SDF can visit family

As a F/A with Hawaiian my favorite layover is Sydney which is a 48 hr layover and my least favorite is Las Vegas which is a 24 hr layover. The reason Las Vegas is my least favorite is inspite of all the more interesting things to do there(shows, shopping, nightclubbing), I end up blowing a lot of money on gambling.

I'm not a crew member but I've heard from different people that the most hated place is LOS. In fact, it sucks so much and its so dangerous that Lufthansa and Alitalia crews, that used to stay in Lagos a few days now stay at ACC. Also I heard that there was a pretty rough incident involving Lufthansa crew at LOS a few years ago (they were all robbed quite violently). Can anyone confirm this?
Btw, to all crew members, what do you think of Buenos Aires?

I had a very interesting conversation with a CO F/A yesterday flying from IAH to MSY on the same subject. She told me that MSY is one of her least favorite places for a layover. When I asked her why specifically, as New Orleans is actually a quite facinating city with all kinds of things going on. She told me that it is the location of the hotel, being in a "crack neighborhood" not far from the Superdome.

Interestingly enough, she told me that she loved overnighting in GPT because the crew normally stays at the Grand Casino Gulfport hotel and she like to go to the nightclub there.

I have been an F/A for 14 years and I have to say that I did not enjoy Karachi however I enjoyed Lahore,I like layovers in India.
However I never enjoyed flights to kIN/MBJ and hated POP, I loved anywhere in the US/CAN and many places in Asia and the middle east.
As I work for a charter airline in the UK many of the flights are out and back the same day/night I hate certain flights more than others espy night flights E.G night flights to RHO,HER,TFS,CFU,LCA,IBZ. DAY Flights are a lot better as long as the kids stay in their seats and not run up and down the aisle during meals/drink service. But the worst for me are ski flights in the winter or worse still any flight to TLV be it a lay over or a turn round. But my all time favorite layover city is MAN my home town followed by the day trip charters to LAP LAND Christmas time.
