Your Favorite Airport To Spot At

OK, as we haven`t had this one for a while, I was wondering which airport is your favorite to spot at? Mine has to be LHR, despite it being 300 miles and up to a 5 hour coach trip each way from where I live, I like to go there several times a month. Anyone else make epic pilgrimages to go spotting?

Hatton X (and the field) are good spots if aircraft are landing on 27L at LHR, and the area near the BA maint. is very good if they're landing on 27R.

MAN has excellent spotting opportunities, as does MXP, MAD, FCO, SIN, AMS, FRA, DUS, ZRH, GVA... lots, in fact.

Well first mine would have to be Manchester Ringway International in the UK but then I would have to put my hand on heart and say Auckland in New Zealand, would have to be the best for me, as I live at the end of the runway I get a great view, and of course I know when to get up for work, when I get all the heavy 744's comming in first thing in the morning, hahaha

Johnson City Airport (0A4) because I can stand on the runway, but LHR becase you can get sh** close to a lot of planes.

Well, I would say ATL, but I'd probably have to go w/ a mid-sized to smaller-sized airport like CMH.

The reason is that at CMH you get a decent blend of 752s, multiple 737 series, A319s and 320s, DC9s, ERJs, CRJs, MD80s, but all from several different airlines.

If I were to spot only at ATL, I'd get the occasional 747 and 777 or two, as well as an A340 sighting even now and then, but everything else in between would mainly be DL after DL after DL after DL of mostly 737s, MD80s, 757s, etc.

1-Ft Lauderdale Executive Airport (KFXE/FXE).
You can get very close to propliners and Bizjets.

2-Miami Intl (KMIA/MIA).
If you are lucky maybe you can get an A346, also lots of wide bodies.

3-LaGuardia (KLGA/LGA).
It doesn't have many wide bodies but you can get many different airlines...

4-El Prat-Barcelona, Spain(LE**/BCN).
There's great spotting place near runway 20...
E145, E170, E190, A310, A300, A319, A320, A321, A330, A340, A380, 717 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, 77W, 787

LGA and SFO. Both have great spots and excellent variety. Especially SFO!
Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

AKL due to the different ranges of aircraft that come and go, compared to WLG and CHC.

SJU and MCO- Because Im usually either in Central Florida or Puerto Rico, so these are the airports closest to me.

Definitely AMS, so far I've been there 3 times, 2 spottingtrips, one only connection. I've love the airport, only thing though is that you need a car to get around the to the different spots.

Manchester ringway UK, the best by far..The viewing park is fantastic ..Well done Manchester airport for accommodating us Spotters....Lived in Holland for 7 years and Schipol is also great so that is my number 2 spotters paradise.. Smile

AKL because of the airlines that you would not normally see elsewhere like PH, FJ, TN ... Also, it is the only 'biggish' airport I can go to without spending a fortune on airfares. (CHC and WLG aern't really 'big' and aircraft there is limited)
