Malev JFK-BUD?

Wed Oct 06, 2004 1:51 am

I will be taking a trip to Eastern Europe soon, connecting in one of the European countries. One of the options I am considering is to fly Malev (JFK-BUD). They offer the cheapest fare I can find to the destination country I need: $613.

Other more expensive options are Austrian (JFK-VIE) and LOT (JFK-WAW).

Could anyone share your experince flying Malev (JFK-BUD) route?

Thanks

Go for it. I am in Hungary every year, sometimes two or three times visiting family, and although I usually fly into VIE because it's closer to where they are in Hungary, I have flown Malev over the pond, although from YYZ, not JFK. Their service is good, flights on time, food not bad, flight attendants nice and fill requests as best they can...sure, not PTVs, but it's not that bad. I'd do it, that's a good price for flying all the way to E. Europe...enjoy!

Anyway, I chose to fly Austrian (A332) to VIE over Malev (B762) to BUD. For $70 more I'll get about 9000 miles for flying Star Alliance airline, aircraft will be fancier and probably the service nicer. Sorry, Malev. May be some other time.
