The 757 makes an awesome noise, whether landing, on the roll, on the climbout, you can tell straight away thats its a 757!

The sound of a Boeing 747-400 spooling-up on the runway and the groan it makes when it starts to pick up speed  smile

I love it when me and my family are driving down the road that runs parallel with 27R/9R and a 747 takes off, the noise drives my parents crazy but I love it  bigthumbsup

'bing bong' sound which seems to happen randomly through the flight either when people press cabin crew call bell or seatbelt signs coming on etc.... I just love it!!!

-The whine of the 757 on takeoff & climb.
-The low groan the L-1011 made when the engines were spooled up to taxi.
-The whistle made by planes with JT8-D engines while taxiing (i.e. 727, 737-200, DC-9)
-The A319's engine sound on the inside while the engines are idle. (On the other hand, the noise they make when they fly overhead is horrible!)
-Flap retraction noise.

Sorry to be rather glib folks, but mine has to be
''cabin crew seats for landing''

meant in fun and hopefully raised a smile or two.

IL-76 on final approach , nothing beats the scream of those engines , and the traling smoke.

Other favorites:

DC-8-54 spooling up after engine start
737-100/200 on idle
A340-600 spool up from inside , sounds like a ghostly groan.

I don't know that it's my favorite, but it is reassuring: the sound of the rubber scrubbing the asphalt on landing, followed by the reverse thrusters - and no unexpected sounds!

Quoting EGHHWizard (Reply 42):
Inside:

The 737-300/400/500 as it just begins to taxi away from the gate- that howling sound is great! You can really imagine the air being wrenched through those engines.

Yes! You beat me to it. However, it can be heard just as well from the outside. It's very unique...almost like the engines go from idle to a high setting immediately with the push of a button. There really is no gradual spooling sound. Anyone know why this is??

Other favorites:
-757 "buzzsaw" on takeoff
-MD-80 engines spooling up and down during taxi. (However when left at idle for extended periods of time, those engines get on my nerves REAL quick)
-DC-10 in any situation...oh man music to my ears!

Nothing will ever beat standing at the end of LHR runway 27R and having British Airways Concorde blast over your head.

Quoting Tarantine (Reply 39):
Low level pass of a B-1B bomber at max afterburning flying right over your head. Wish I could have heard the following though:
1. B-58 Hustler

Outside Spotting:

Quoting Thrust (Reply 50):
The Boeing 777 speeding up for takeoff on the runway

Outside anytime, but especially when your A$$ in on the line in Sea distress:
US Coast Guard Dauphin or Falcon, the whine is to intoxicating to resist!! I swear the Falcon is quieter then the stealth fighter!!

Outside Floating on an innertube in the Florida Straights:
Cessna 337 of Brother's to the Rescue!!

Outside when the Shuttle is Landing: The Sonic Double boom, It's one of the reasons I moved to Central Florida!!

Inside Aircraft:

Quoting Matthewkh (Reply 51):
Can't beat the squeal of the tires on touchdown.

Quoting Bezoar (Reply 113):

Engine Starts:
Jet Cars!!! (Usually T-38 Engines)
Harriers
A-10's

The Distinctive Electric Click click click of above while the turbine noise is comming into play is VERY oddly facinating.

Maybe it doesn't get my adrenaline going after a flight, but it's nice to hear after the flight!!
