Great shots everyone!  Big thumbs up

2004 has been an awesome year for me, starting with my first two shots accepted in February:

I have added 94 photos to the database this year, which compared to some is not a whole lot, but I'm still very happy with that.

This year marks my return to dedicated spotting and photography. To mark the occasion, I purchased a Canon Powershot Pro1 to replace my Nikon N6006.

2004 was an fantastic year with exciting projects.

Project 1 was the restoration of the Lockheed Constellation 749 N749NL and made her first flight at July 2-2004.
After being onboard myself on the third flight(and the last till now) we ended up at The Dutch Aviation Theme Park Aviodrome one day early and it is here where i shot my most popular image to date, the other one is the first flight.

Project 2 was the dismantling and transportation of the B742 PH-BUK and gave me my second most popular image which i won't plug.(don't like it myself)
I will plug another one though because it is one of my personal favorites and maybe slightly underrated. It was taking from a 25 meter high and wobbly elevator and gives a perspective not seen on A.net before i think and another one because it marks "the end" of the project at the Aviodrome.

Then i did several A2A missions which is the thing i like doing most.
Here you see the DC3 air raid over the city of The Hague passing a building which is known as " the t!ts of The Hague" and another one which in my eyes is also slightly underrated, how often do you see them this close ?

Of course the arrival of the first production Fokker F27(1958) which came all the way back from Australia to the Aviodrome was another highlight.

I think the greatest thing about this hobby are the people you connect with, either in person or via email. I've corresponded with pilots this year...and had lengthy discussions with Ryan Umphrey, Matt McDowell, and Joe Statz. So, on to the picks:

Most picks goes to a Dallas Cowboys charter to Packer country:

I started uploading in August 04 when I submitted four pics, shot with an Olympus C-740 on 1024 x 768 with no editing whatsoever, and had two accepted. That piece of beginner's luck was followed by a long series of rejections during which it began to seem impossible that I would ever get another pic accepted. I'm now up to 50, but the words "bad quality" still haunt my nightmares. A.net has taught me a great deal about picture-taking and editing, and I am very grateful for that to all those involved with the site.

My most popular shot, for some reason, is this one:

As for the most "underrated", probably this one:

Plan for 2005: shots from airports other than MLA. Plan for some indeterminate time in the subsequent future: a Canon 20D.

I would just like to add another "under rated" shot.

Not from me tho, i just saw this from Mr Ryan Hemmings and thought WOW! It is so under rated!

Please give this photo the recognition it deserves! Big grin

I agree with Chris! ^^^^

I said to Ryan at the time that this was one of my favourite shots I'd seen this year and for it to only get 150 odd views seems very under rated to me. Absolutely superb  Big thumbs up

2004 has been a dead year for me at a.net. 1 or 2 uploads, not too much forum activity......2005 is going to change though! I now havd a Canon EOS 10D with a Sigma 18-50mm F3.5-5.6 DC + Canon EF 75-300mm F/4-5.6 III USM. Lots of plans for travelling so hopefully LOTS of uploads for 2005 to come!

Hi All,

It's been a fantastic year....
Screening wise, we've added a huge new group to the screening team and by year end we finally had the queue under control (there are so many more photographers, so the uploads went through the roof).

In terms of my own photos, I got ever so close to 1000 photos, with my average creeping up from 500 at the beginning of the year to nearly 1000 by year end. I added 160 shot during the year with a 2,304 average for those shots.

I ventured into new airports with my first trip to Europe. I got to meet people like Peter Unmuth, Andy Graf in VIE and Florian Trojer in INN.

I hope I'll provide you with some even more interesting shots in 2005.

Anyway.... for my shameless plugs:

Highest hitting shot was a shot of the day...

New airlines led to some favourite shots, including the first landing of Hawaiian (after many years), and a very low shutter speed shot of Martinair. Both tricky shots because I didn't have my new trusty 70-200 f2.8 IS...

I'd like to add something, I just realized that I missed two VERY important parts of my year with A.net (mostly the last 4 or 5 months). Two people that have helped me TREMENDOUSLY. Which is what makes this site the way it is, simply the community involved.

They are:

Awwwwwwwwww... Embarrassment Thanks Charlie. I think that's what this hobby is all about - feeding off of the strengths of your friends and then sharing YOUR strengths. It's been a great year, and I've made a lot of friends on here. Charlie, Steve, Florian, Sebastian, Sven, Eric, Chad (yes, even you Chad), Royal, Jin... the list goes on and on. Thank you all for your contributions to my hobby, and thanks for letting me contribute to yours.

Also - a big shout out goes to the good folks at Canon!!! On Valentines day I bought my wife diamonds - and she bought me my Digital Rebel! I think I get WAY more enjoyment out of the camera than her rock, but anyway. My acceptance ratio has SKYROCKETED, and this camera has motivated me to branch out into all different types of photography. It truly has made my year here on airliners.net

Now for my humble plugs!  Big thumbs up
