757 The Most Fun To Pilot?

Mon Mar 28, 2005 5:50 pm

You pilots out there. What is the airliner that you most enjoyed piloting? Which one gave you the most fun?

On some of the threads here at a.net, some pilots have gotten pretty fired up about RR powered 757's, and I am looking to see what other machines get the blood boiling. I have also heard that some of the DC9's flow by SAS were pretty good too.

UH-1H Huey
(seriously)

I arrived at the B-757 from the wrong direction. I got bumped down to it. For that reason it always felt like punishment to have to fly it. It is quite a nice airplane and all, but I never was all rhapsodic over it. Frankly liked flying the Airbus more.

If the pilots are so fired up about the 757, than the 767 would also be up there since both have identical cockpits....

The 67 is a pig compared to the 57. The 57 is a lighter more responsive airplane. The cockpits are similar not identical. There are numerous minor differences.

I don't think it is the cockpits that get people excited. It's probably those two things hanging off the wing.  Wink

I have about 2000 hours in the left seat in the 757. It's a great aircraft, fun to fly and very responsive. It has the ideal legs on it, 5-6 hours, normally. Plenty of power, it is very stable on 1 engine.

However, for me, it would rank second behing the -400.

Does that more or less apply to the 757-200? I was talking to a A330 pilot who used to fly the -200 and he absolutely loved it, but he also said he wouldn't want to fly the -300 because its no comparison to the -200. Is there any truth to that?

Yes, the -400 is in reference to the 747-400.

Never flew the 757-300, however, I do have some friends who fly it and they're not too impressed with the 300 when compared to the -200.
