MH's Hibiscus Vs Heliconia

Mon Sep 25, 2006 3:04 am

Malaysia Airlines is not known for special liveries until they unveiled their gorgeous red hot Hibiscus and cool blue Heliconia. The Hibiscus scheme, which carries the tag An Experience Redefined are worn by two (2) 744s, 9M-MPB and 9M-MPD while the Heliconia scheme, which carries the tag Freedom of Space is worn by a 772, 9M-MRD. Both schemes were to signify MH's new First and Business class products.

The schemes have created so much buzz in the industry since their respective inception.

I am just wondering, which one (the majority think) is more beautiful?

For me, it's the Heliconia. I join Airliners.Net after I flew in 9M-MRD. I was so stunned by its beauty.

i'm for the heliconia.. the hibiscus is nice but a bit too fiery. but i'm probably a bit biased.. was near SYD last night and over flew the heliconia 777 on finals... very impressive and quite loud.. esp. compared to the airbuses.

Definitely hands down Heliconia    . Blue is my favourite colour. Besides that, I like the way the colour scheme gently transitions from dark blue up front to white at the tail. The shades and tones of blue used are very harmonious. The scheme is particularly beautiful as it presents a very complicated design with all the swirling, curved lines without becoming too fussy. The B777 / Trent 800 combination is the perfect "canvas" for this scheme! Definitely the best scheme I have ever seen.

They are both wonderful liveries, but I can't help but think, how stunning the Hibiscus would look on the 777 (drool).

having seen both the designs at AKL from a variety of different angles both close up and far away. my eye enjoys the blue 772 much more. It's far more intricate and is better suited for the aircraft it is on.

Gee this was a really tough decsion. I have been really lucky and got to see both at my home airport Perth. I have even flown on 9M-MPD from KUl to LHR last year. They are both definately the best two colour schemes around and I thought nothing could beat SQ,s Tropical Megatop. But my final vote (probably bias) would go to Hibiscus.

Both of them are so gorgeous it is hard to pick one. But, because I am the Boeing 747's biggest fan, I'm gonna go with Hibiscus!

I see Hibiscus plenty of times here in SYD but have never seen Heliconia in the metal - both are stunning special liveries and my fave colour is red, but I have to say I do prefer Heliconia better if I have to choose!
