Most Attractive F/A Uniform

Sat Jan 20, 2007 1:15 am

Which is the nicest flight attendent uniform?

I happen to like Cathay best. I know many think of the Singapore Girl but I don't particularly find their uniform attractive.

Let's not get this into a slagging match with U.S. airlines because they do have the absolute worst uniforms on the planet so let's establish that from the get go.

United rolled out a new uniform for their Asia-based FAs... I like these uniforms a LOT, and I wish UA would roll it out for the rest of their FAs.

I still like these:

Direct KNOBS, maintain 2700' until established on the localizer, cleared ILS runway 26 left approach.

First off - Emirates' F/A uniform is far less attractive than anything worn by anyone flying for any US airline.

I guess I find Cathay's to be somewhat boring. Singapore's is fairly nice. I'm a fan of Virgin Atlantic's, even if it is somewhat bold.

United's is very efficient and professional looking (United Asia) and Delta's has certainly improved.

I've always sort of found Lufthansa's kind of nice, very professional, but still nice.

Then again, I suppose an airline must strike the right balance between business atire appearance and cocktail appearance.

I must say (yes I am Finnish =) I like the Finnair uniform. It is not only stylish but also gives enough variety for everybody to be able to find a version suiting their taste and body type best. And also that it changes Seasonally is a nice touch.
This is what has been said about it (quote from Finnair web site):

"The French travel magazine Bon Voyage has listed the 20 most stylish airline crew uniforms in its November-December 2004 issue. The Finnair uniform took fifth place and was the only western airline uniform in the top ten. According to the magazine, Finnair’s sea-blue outfits complement perfectly the fair crews."

Air Finland personnel have very conservative and classic uniforms. I met one flight attendant at a travel fair in Helsinki today and she said she really likes the classic and attractive lines of her uniform.

I'm a bit biased and haven't seen many other airlines' uniforms but DL should be somewhere up in the top 10 or 15 in the world.

I think BA has the smartest one. I think the waistcoats just top it off completly (although you can't see them in this photo!)

I've been on 12 EI segments and never had anything but fine good looking Irish ladies taking care of me. Best in the business as far as I'm concerned.  yes

The "Singapore Girls" are endangered of losing their sponsorship...

The "Singapore Girl" could be on the way out as the symbol for Singapore Airlines. Reuters has this to say about the possible change:

She is Asian, wears a figure-hugging uniform, smiles gently, and looks nowhere near her 35 years. Now the Singapore Girl, an airline industry icon, may be about to get a more contemporary look. In one of the world's longest running advertising campaigns, Singapore Airlines' flight attendants have become instantly recognizable corporate symbols and are the focus of the Southeast Asian carrier's advertising. But the advertising firm that created the campaign and the slogan "Singapore Girl — You're a great way to fly", now faces the risk of losing the lucrative deal. This month, Singapore Air invited rivals of Batey Ads, which has held the contract since the airline was formed in 1972, to also submit bids and the outcome could change the Singapore Girl."

That makes us wonder: What do you think has been the best advertising campaign, slogan or icon used by an airline over the years? How about the best in the USA? Or, which ones have been among the worst? Share your thoughts.

The most attractive F/A uniform in my opinion was the Tartan uniform of the British Caledonian female F/As. 6 different Tartans were available for the F/As giving some slight variations, but they always looked smart and professional.

I searched for images on the web but this is the only picture that I can find and does not really do the uniform justice.

If VS makes the crews look like strippers then what does the Hooters uniform do????

I am slightly concerned with the designer of the VS uniforms. He gave their men purple ties and waistcoats and purple shirts for the guys at Debenhams (with fetching pink and purple tie, god I hated wearing that  Angry )

New BA uniform is great, but i still don't think you can beat the Singapore Girls. Partly because they are so iconic - no other Cabin Crew in the world are as easily recognised as the SIA ladies.

I guess it depends on the region of the world, Airline uniforms that represent their culture give a warm welcome to their passengers for instance, Korean Air is elegant, stylish, and when you step in their planes it gives you the impression that you are flying on Korean, also the blue goes with the outside blue. I like Avianca's new uniform. That picture of Alitalia on top looks very elegant and stylish, and sticks to the topic "uniform" . The Delta picture in my opinion goes totally the opposite form the topic "uniform", it looks uneven and unattracitve, see how the Italian girls and the girls on the red suite have a posture and good figure, I have to agree that the US has a lot of unatractive flight attendants when compared to other countries.

Well being in the USA you can hire people based on attractivness, which is just silly.

I have seen many uniforms working at ORD and I like the following:

The best i've seen were KE's. When the first group showed up in those uniforms they turned so many heads! Its stylish yet practical for the job imo

DL has the best of all the American carriers.

I used to like UA's the best untill DL knocked them out.

BA's uniforms is very elegant looking. They always arrived into ORD very uniformed and looked like a unit.

Now then there is the debate of US carriers giving their F/A's too many pieces to choose from and we end up with a crew in different uniforms. But thats the US. We are not the rest of the world

It might be worth noting that some of the uniforms in the Delta picture are NOT F/A uniforms and are instead CSA or Crown Room Club Uniforms.

I think Delta did a good job because the styles across these three employee groups (F/A, CSA, Clubs) who have customer contact are the same, with different color accents:

F/As: Red
CSAs: Silver
Crown Room Club: Gold

I've seen Delta crews of 8 at HNL and even if they are all wearing different pieces (Red Dress, Navy Dress, Skirt/Blouse, Pants/Blouse) they have a very stylish, uniform look because of the red accents among other things.

Delta did a great job on their new Uniforms.

NOW, I'm curious to see what our new HA uniforms look like later this year....
