FF Elite Members

Hi all I wonder if those of you who are elite members of the different FF programs can tell me the main benefits you obtain from your FF program. I'm interested mainly in the customer service side of things.

#1 for me is the pre-boarding
#2 is the glimmer of hope that the unlimited, complimentary space-available upgrades offers

Continental has relatively evean handling of customer service -- as a FQTV it's a little better, but even if you aren't elite Continental tends to take care of their customers.

hi Lincoln

I wonder does co have 24hour phone service? Do they have limo service for elite members? Or special parking facilities at main airports? What other priveledges do they give their main customers?

In addition to what Lincoln has put down, CO has priority bag tags they put on your checked luggage which is supposed to bring your bags to baggage claim first, sometime it works, other times it doesn't so I just try and carry my stuff on.

CO also gives Elite bonus miles for your flights.....depending on your Elite level, you can find out exactly what the bonus miles are but they do not count toward Elite mileage.

Another perk and one that I've come to love, by a "Y" fare and if seats are available upgrade for free upon purchase, no mileage deduction either.

Mmm let me see, other perks, if you are a member of the Presidents Club and time to renew you get a cut rate on the renewal which is nice, again depending on your level of Elite.

If you are Gold or Platinum Elite, CO allows a companion upgrade for free when they are traveling with you....that is at best a long shot as it goes by Elite level and your companion only goes after all other Elites have been upgraded, then the companions go, so, this is not going to happen often unless a large first class cabin on a relatively light loaded airplane which just doesn't happen often on CO.....they fly FULL!

Hope this helps.  Smile

I think the most tangible benefit for me is the expanded seat map
availabilty and the early boarding privileges. Also, when checking
in at an international airport, I can use the Business Class line,
which saves a lot of time. Upgrades are getting harder to grab;
I almost never expect it to happen any more. I've only been able
to upgrade on about 20% of my upgrade-eligible flights this year.

I like the dedicated phone lines and the greater efforts to rebook when delayed or cancelled

The upgrades are nice...

As FlyingBlue Gold Elite the main benefits I actually find useful are;

Dedicated reservations line
Guaranteed seat in 24 hours notice
Priority on waiting lists (especially useful considering KLM's habit of cancelling flights)
Dedicated/Business class check in desks
Extra 10kg of free luggage allowance (30kg)
Complimentary first/business class lounge use
Priority boarding
Preferential seating

No guarantees made about free upgrades, but it happens occasionally
