I don't know if there is already a thread on this topic but here goes:
I never understand why so many airport lounges around the world have no windows or look at into a parking lot or something. You are at an airport and it is great to sit in a lounge with a fantastic view of the airplanes and the runways. It boggles the mind.
So, here are a list of my favourite (for overall airport views) and least favourites (no windows - hello claustrophobia!)
Great Views:
- Sala VIP at Madrid (old terminal). Great view and nice sleeper chairs next to the windows. I purposely check in early so I can spend some quality time here.
- KLM Schiphol lounge (ex-Schengen). Great views over the terminals and the aircraft. The Schengen KLM lounge is nice and spacious, but no direct view over the airport - you can see it from further back though.
- Air France lounge
LHR: nice view of the runway
- Delta Crown Room
JFK: the one atop the main terminal. Great overview of the international terminal.
- Lufthansa Senator Lounge
FRA: nice view of passing aircraft (pretty close) and of runway.
- Alitalia Lounge - Turin
- Skyteam Lounge -
CUN
Horrible ones (unfortunately the list is longer):
- Alitalia - Milan Linate - just horrible
- Air France/KLM -
LIS
- TAP Portugal -
LIS
- Air France
EZE
- Alitalia Catania
- A number of lounges at Tom Bradley International
LAX
- International lounge (AF/AZ use) at MIA
