Iberia CCS-MAD!. Awful! i couldn't sleep. The movies were a big crap. My legs, head, arms, body, everything was destroyed. I spend all the first day sleeping and then the big jet lag!.

I did SIA-FRA on LH A343. It was 13+ Hours long. I did well on that flight because I had all four seats in the middle row on my own and since I don't care about PTV I was happy beeing on a LH plane.

Cheers

I Flew KE flight 38 from ORD to ICN. 14.5 hours.

the 744 has AVOD and wasnt too bad, sitting way in the back was riding in one of the pairs, and there is a nice amount of room to the side of your seat to put your stuff and avoid the bin.

worse was coming back PVG-ORD on AA. about the same amount of time. ok service, but no AVOD, just looping videos.

My longest flight in coach was NRT-ATL on DL. The only reason that I was able to survive that flight was because I was seated in a bulkhead aisle seat. It was seat 30C and the bulkhead doesn't extend all the way over to the aisle seat on the 777, so I had more legroom than I knew what to do with (thank God because I'm 6'4).

15+ hours DEL-ORD on AA. Luckily, it was summer, so they view out the window above Greenland was fantastic. And thank goodness for 777's. Although I mainly watched just the map on the PTV, it was still a good thing to have. I only slept for 2-3 hours on that flight. And to makes things a little worse, by the time the catering cart made it to me, they had run fresh out of chicken pasta, so I got stuck with Indian veg. Imagine two and a half straight weeks of nothing but Indian food, then having to eat its fake counterpart on the plane!  Sad Needless to say, my dad and I made a mad dash to Chili's in ORD after we went through customs. If there's one thing that a few weeks in India will make you crave, it's red meat!

My longest was CDG - MVD aboard an Air France B777 in 2001, economy class. The flight was originally scheduled as CDG - EZE (a long flight in itself). But upon approach to EZE, the airport was fogged in so we had to circle in the air for a while, but due to fuel constraints, we had to land in MVD. The total flight time was over 15 hours.

Quoting N5014K (Reply 33):
HNL-EWR. Very unpleasant. Whenever I stood up to stretch my legs the flight attendants told me to sit down.

Ugh. Don't ya hate that? On my above-mentioned DEL-ORD, I stood around in the rear galley and chatted with the FA for quite some time. He mentioned that a lot of his colleagues get nervous about people standing around, but he said it's just unrealistic to have such a long flight without a chance to stand for a while.
Only problem I had with FA's was ORD-DEL....we were flying over all sorts of amazing scenery, and she kept telling me to close my shade to keep the cabin dark. So I just put a blanket over my head and around the window, and watched that way.  Smile

US military charter on a World Airways MD11 from SEA to RKSO (Osan AFB, South Korea) departed SEA at 4am....I was really lucky though and got the row with the one empty seat on the whole flight. Was hard to sleep, but the flight crew treated us like royalty.
Ok, wait for the RJ to pass, cleared to push tail south Mike, and you're cleared to spin #2 in the push.

For me, the longest is still quite short compared to a lot of routes already mentioned.

LGW-SFB.

Flight took approx 8hrs40. However, when you are on a MyTravel A330 configured 3x3x3 , combined with a 30" pitch, it seems an awful lot longer!

the night flight on the way back was even more terrible (even though it was about 1hr shorter) as sleep or relaxation was impossible! (esp for me , as im 6ft1!!)

MIne is upcoming: LHR to JNB on one of the last SAA 744 flights. I am fortunate to have a window exit on the upper deck. The return will be CPT-LHR, another exit window on the A346. Probably about 12 hours for each flight. Maybe I will slip into one of the J class flatbeds when no one is looking  Smile

August, 1997. Delta Air Lines from Honolulu to Atlanta. This was an 8 hour flight on a Lockheed L-1011. Luckily I had an "A" seat and my brother was sitting in the "B" seat. They showed a movie, had full meal service, and came around the cabin every hour with drink service. It wasnt bad at all. The L-1011 was very comfortable and spacious.

LAX-BNE 13 hours on QF. I actually really enjoyed the trip. I was kept occupied by making a tower of cards on my tray table. It got really big..... then turbulence came.............. Still it got rid of a good 4 hours.

My longest commercial flight was ORD-ORY on AA back in 1990. About 9 hours. Service was actually pretty good on board, and my traveling partner and I almost ran the F/As out of Bacardi on the way over. The return trip from ORY-RDU was where my luggage was broken into by AA ramp employees, and is why I won't fly AA again if I have the choice. Pity, because the cabin service was pretty decent (even without AVOD/PTV/anything).

My longest non-stop flight was the ANC-DNA (Kadena AB Okinawa) leg of an LAX-ANC-DNA-CRK routing on a Flying Tigers 747 sardine can. All coach, small coach military charter. Don't know for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if 475-500 people were on that plane.

Worst flight ever was in the cargo hold of a C-141 from NKW (Diego Garcia)-CRK. Around 8.5-9 hours in the air, but I was stuck with the bench seats on the side of the fuselage, had to wear earplugs because of the engine noise, and it was COLD (probably 50 degrees F at best the whole trip).

nonstops JFK-NRT and JFK-ICN are my longest in economy westward (NW 744, JL 744, KE 744, NW 742, UA 742)---usually 14 hrs more or less. Could not really cope----you will feel that flying can be boring too. I missed those days when NW 747 flew daily JFK-IAD-ORD-ANC-NRT-OKA-MNL!!!

My longest was on April 14th, 2007 flying FRA-YYZ on an AC A330-313X. C-GHKX. It was 7 hours 51 mins long. Unfortunately I was in seat 37F, so no window seat.  grumpy  At least AC's A330s have lots of legroom. It really didn't seem very long.

LAX-CDG on AF in Tempo aboard a 773 this summer. I sat next to a woman and her son, and while the woman had the aisle seat and I the window, her consistent laughter (at whatever she was watching on her PTV) kept me from sleeping for the vast majority of the flight. I might have slept an hour at most before having to make a connection to HEL on AY in less than an hour at CDG. I slept hard that night.
Picked a hell of a week to quit sniffing glue.

LAX-MEL on QF scheduled for 15 hours but MEL was closed by fog so diverted to SYD sat on the ground in the plane for 2 hours, took on gas and food, took off and flew to MEL... all up 19 hours (6888nm).

Also done AKL-LAX-LHR in one go although we did get off the plane in LAX for about 45 minutes but got back on the plane with the same flight number etc etc. Thats 24 hours worth of flying there just over 10,000nm also.

JFK-PHX. I have never flown internationally in coach. I refuse as did my family as a youth. I regularly fly coach though on shorter trips ot flights that have no first class or available first class at least. Charlotte, Florida, PIT, DCA, BOS.

12 hours scheduled AKL-BKK on a TG 346 flight time was about 11:15 though I guess we were on the aircraft for about 12 hours. The AVOD did help the flight go more quickly.

AMS-MEM on a NW A333, about 10 hours even. The plane was brand new, and while the service was not quite as good as KL, the AVOD made up for it. Unfortunately, I had to sit for 2.5 hours extra in MEM as my A320 to ORD went mechanical.

QF-94 LAX-MEL 16hr10min longest sector length recorded by QF I believe for a passenger carrying flight...I DON'T recommend this flight to anyone...strong headwinds and darkness the entire trip make it boring, uncomfotable and very bloody long.

Flew Last year LAS-LGW on an old VS 747.

Flight was about 12 hours.

Started off bad. The queue to check in at LAS was a nightmare. Then we had this VS rep trying to tell me our baggage was overweight. I made her look stupid when I showed here my ticket and it stated both of us could have 2 bags at 32kg each (we booked the tickets before VS changed their baggage policy).

Got to near the desk and was hoping to pay to upgrade to PE only for the couple in front to take the last 2 seats.

Got on plane and my wife's IFE would not work. Thus I let her use mine. Person next to me was knocking back G&T's to beat the band so when they finished they snored like mad and I could not sleep.

Not being able to sleep on an overnight flight made this one of the longest plane journeys I have ever done.

(Only a week early I flew SIN-LAX with SQ on an A345 and that was 16.5hrs and felt it went a lot quicker)

Back in '99 (I think) we had a special charter. I flew in the back, two Y seats to myself. YVR to Fukishima, Japan to Sendai, Japan to ANC for gas and back to YYZ. 33 hrs. 3 complete flight crew changes. For the first two crews, I was just a distortion in the space time continuum, that is until a cart could not be pulled from it's parking slot. I thanked the lord almighty we didn't crap out in ANC. I wasn't thinking very clearly by then. Oh, and it was a YYZ crew that got on, and was offered my first cuppa joe since YVR. Before that, I would ask and get a mild sneer.

My longest flight in Y was with JJ from CDG to GRU - and I coped the way I usually do... by sleeping... Big grin

PTVs were available and, as normal for me, unused throughout the flight except for the moving map display during dinner and breakfast. Other than that: sleep.

I did CO HNL-EWR and EWR-HNL. That one was about 10 hours (not so bad, except that they barely fed us and the IFE was basically a repeat of our flight from GUM-HNL). My dad has done NRT-DTW on NW...something like 12 hours in Y. He said that it wasn't equipped with PTVs, just a projector at the front. It would have been hard for me.

SQ 346 in 2001, Boeing 747-400 SIN-ZRH. 12:45 in duration I think although FCO-SIN in the old Celestar A343 was pretty long as well.

Interesting..I just did that route in the reverse order in August, they fed us three times (Lunch, snack sandwhich, snack) and twice respectively.
