Really Desperate: Return Tickets From Kathmandu

Sat Dec 29, 2007 1:11 pm

Hey, so I booked tickets a while back for a trip to Nepal and back for four people. The gateway to Kathmandu is from Singapore, but we are willing to make a stop anywhere along the way to get there. We have been confirmed for the outbound trip to KTM on Silk Air (direct), Thai Airways (via BKK), Cathay Pacific/Dragonair and Hong Kong Express (via HKG) - but there is absolutely no airline or travel agent that can confirm the return journey from Kathmandu. It is really dumbfounding - I have been trying for months now, and I cant seem to get the KTM-BKK/SIN/HKG sector confirmed on any airline. Is it really that every single flight out of Nepal is fully booked for months on end? Can anyone help me out there, or direct me on what to do, I really really need to go to Nepal, and I'm getting worried as we have been waitlisted on all these flights for some time now. My outbound date is Jan 8, 2008, and return is Jan 15, 2008. Please please, there are four passengers, and if anyone can help us out that would be great. Thanks.

- I tried booking through India and even then, flights between KTM and DEL couldn't be confirmed, and this routing required an overnight transit in India which didn't work as we are off again on the 16th from Singapore.

- I gave my UA mileage number (Star Gold) to the travel agent to see if we could get on the priority waitlist - would that help? I assume there wouldn't be much mileage traffic between KTM-BKK.

Again, any help/advice towards getting us on a return flight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You could also try QR to DOH

Indian Airlines have seats to Varanesi on 15Jan were you can then connect onto a DEL flight with Kingfisher.

Indian airlines also have seats in Y to CCU and some airline Z5 (GMG airlines) have seats to DAC

all of the above have availability in Y in AMADEUS

Hope this helps

I think everyone is mis-reading the OPs question. He needs to get from KTM to SIN on 15 Jan. For that route, I can find the following:

1*A$CA 408 C4 D4 I4 J4 Y4 B4 M4 H4 KTMCTU 1145 1750 319 1E
K4 L4 Q4 G4 S4 X4 V4 U4 W- T4 E4
2*A$CA 403 C4 D4 I- J4 Y4 B4 M4 H4 SIN 2000 0040 #1 319 0E
K4 L4 Q- G4 S4 X4 V4 U- W4 T4 E4
or:

3 #9W 261 C7 J3 Z0 I0 Y7 M0 T0 U0 KTMDEL 1545 1715 737 0
N0 L0 Q0 S0 K0 H0 V0
4 #SQ 407 F4 P4 A4 Z4 C4 J1 D0 L0 SIN 2100 0455 #1 773 0E
K0 S9 Y9 E9 B9 M9 W0 H9 Q9 N0 T0 V0

Price wise, the cheapest and best connecting off I can find for you is:

1. #9W 261 Y 15JAN TU KTM DEL 1545 1715 737 S 0 @
2. $S2 81 Y 15JAN TU DEL SIN 2230 0630 #1 737 D 0
BASE FARE- 1340.00 TAX- 151.20 TOTAL- 1491.20 GBP (cost for 4 pax)

SQ is the more expensive option than this at around gbp60 more total.

Maybe you could try Emirates to DXB and then from there to KTM on Nepal Airlines?

On seatcounter.com, UO (HongKongExpress) flight 513 from KTM-HKG shows availability (4 seats) in all booking classes for January 15. I sincerely hope this helps.

Would you know how I could book these seats? I tried Hong Kong Express' website, but it seems that it won't allow for online bookings! I tried calling their hotline in Singapore (their GSA), and keep getting the run around, saying they'll call back but to no avail.

Try GMG airlines of Bangladesh.. They have 4 flights a week to Dhaka and then you can continue on Singapore airlines to SIN. Acctually from Dhaka there are many many options to SIN.
