Old Liveries Still Flying With Pride!

Wed Jan 16, 2008 12:47 am

Hello,

My French friends were over for dinner last night, and they are both fans of civil aviation. The topic of who had the oldest running livery came up. The 2 airlines we could immediately think of (longer than 15 years) were AA & AF. (then we started getting into friendly arguments about which looks classier, but no luck there)
Anyway, if anyone could think of long successful liveries older than 15 years, please share it with us.

Thank You

Iberia still has the same livery and it came in in the late 1970s or early 1980s. Lufthansa still have the same logo, the crane (?), since they were reestablished in 1955.

KLM,

KLM have recently modified their livery.

I would say Olympic - but I have a feeling they modified the hue of their color scheme at some point?

KLM has had minor changes, (IMO) Qantas is another one with minor changes since 1985 or so. Singapore Air is another. Cubana has been pretty much the same since the 1970s

This topic has come up before. I believe Royal Air Maroc wins the prize. It's livery has not changed appreciably since at least 1962:

The modifications from the early 1960s to the present are minor as to be almost unnoticeable.

The symbol has stayed the same though since Onassis got the designers to come up with the rings !!!

Passing through PIT, I saw this little Beech on the tarmac with this very old USAir Express. Probably 1980s?

LH's crane logo goes back much further, to the pre-WWII Lufthansa. I believe the crane was first used in 1919.

Quoting Nosedive (Reply 13):
KLM has had minor changes,

KL's livery has had some fairly significant changes over the years.
