Best Y Class: AF343 BA744 VS744

Thu Mar 06, 2008 10:39 pm

I'm flying SFO-CDG in a week and I have purchased tickets on all three carriers SFO-(LHR)-CDG. I would like your input on what carrier has the best Y class and why.

Thanks

VS

Sit at the back, in an A or a K seat and you'll enjoy.

On the 744 do not go for the exit row as the reduced seat width is an issue.

Sorry to confuse - I purchased three tickets because I'm flying on a staff non-revenue ticket and since its Easter weekend I don't wanna get stuck when there's space on one of the three carriers!!

If you travel on stand-by and want to go to CDG, then fly AF !
you will avoid a hell of a transfer at LHR and the risk to get stuck there for hours waiting for a seat on the always full LHR-CDG flights.

Enjoy good food, free Champagne and of course PTVs in Y ... with a possible upgrade to J as often with AF for airline staff.

Always full? All of my LHR-CDG flights have been half full at best.

As for the OP: I'd go for VS aswell.

VS hands down.
Get one of the two seat sets at the back, fine, your last to leave, but there just seems to be more space. That and your first for meal service.
And, if virgins excellent V:Port doesn't swing you, then what will?

Hey

Think I am meant to say BA as I work for them, but, if I was paying I would go with Virgin Atlantic. If I was not paying then BA.

If I was in J BA all the way ;o)

Kimberly.

I would absolutely go for BA. Let us know what you will choose, when you have made up your mind.

Virgin Atlantic, and yes I am biased, but it has nothing less than the alternatives. Industry standard seat width and pitch, excellent, friendly crew and an excelllent in flight service. What more could you want.

I'll probably try for AF first considering they leave first and it's a nonstop flight. Although I prefer the 744 over the 343, I'd much rather avoid the LHR transfer until T-5 is open later on this month. BTW, I work for BA so obv I'd choose BA since I have a much higher chance to be upgraded - but since I'm only gonna be in CDG for the weekend, I'd like to maximize my time and transferring at LHR is gonna take half a day at least...
