Cheapest Fares You've Found

Mon Mar 17, 2008 10:57 pm

Hi, I just a couple of a days ago I booked a $109 dollar roundtrip ticket from MSP to ORD. I thought it was insane they would sell that cheap. I was wondering what other cheap flights you all have found before.

I looked into a cheap FR flight while in London at the end of the month. The fares are cheap, like 0.01p, but with 15-20 pounds in taxes each way it's not so cheap by the end. I flew YYC-YVR return for $44 each way a few months ago, usually the seat sale fare is around $100 each way. Got my first flight on the new AC E190.

Just got a DL fare alert for MDW-LGA for $62 one way. Not bad, but I'm all traveled out for now.

A bit dated, but...

In 1979, the special fare to introduce new service from MKE to MSP on Western Airlines was $13 each way from July 1st to the 13th, rising $1 each day until the end of the month.

My fare for MKE-MSP-MKE from the 13th (the day Skylab fell to earth) to the 15th was $28!! Quite a bargain even in 1979 dollars!

Flew BRS-MXP with easyJet - taxes were more than the total amount I paid, so in effect easyJet paid me a couple of £ for the flight

LAX - SFO - LAX for $97, tax and fees included, right now at farecompare.com.

And I just booked Air France's new LAX - LHR - LAX for $398, tax and fees included, Apr 9 to Apr 14. That's a bargain.

FL787:
Will you be on a DC-9?
I flew Northwest DC-9 MSP - ORD last Thanksgiving weekend.

The cheapest ticket I paid for was on Alaska Airlines.
It was $58 roundtrip between BUR-OAK and SFO-LAX.
Back in summer 1990, they were running specials for $58 between all 5 LA area airports to all 3 San Francisco Bay Area airports. I picked different airports on both ends.

Awesome!
Try to get seat # 24-A.
That is the best seat in the house.
It is on the 2 seat side, just far enough in front of the engine so you can see out the window, yet you can hear the loud roar of those old engines.
If you can't get that seat, 24-E is just as good but on the 3 seat side.

Thanks, It's open so I'm going to try it, and yes the engines do add a lot to the flight!

Your flight will be similar to mines.
I talk about it in this trip report. Larry Craig, NWA DC9, Midwest 717 And Lots Of Beer (by Superfly Nov 28 2007 in Trip Reports)

If you get 24-A, you might get a really cool shot of the Chicago skyline depending on which runway you land on and if the weather is clear. If you descend in to Chicago making a U-turn over Lake Michigan, you'll get that view. Unfortunately we did land on that runway.

Last year in may i flew one-way Hongkong (HKG) - London-Gatwick (LGW) with OASIS Hongkong for 159,-EUR incl. all tax !
That´s dirt cheap !!!
(It´s a quite a bit further than those typical Ryanair flights at 0,01EUR ... )

I did book a flight a few years ago with EZY NCL-ALC-NCL for about £45 all inc, which isn't bad for the route, considering it's usually at least that one way. I did see an ALC-MME-ALC for 25.52 euros rtn a couple of weeks ago with FR.
