Which Route Would You Like From/to Your Airport?

Mon Apr 28, 2008 10:18 am

If you were to choose let's say three routes going to and from your home airport. Which ones would you choose, which carrier and on what equipment?

My choices:

JL NRT-ARN 747-400
UA SFO-ARN 777-300
QF SYD-SIN-ARN 747-400/380

I would really like to see a PWM-west coast flight to maybe LAX, SFO, or LAS.

PIT-IAD (UA has a monopoly on that route, and the fares make me sick)
PIT-LHR (bring back the BA 763 or something!)

1. MIA-NRT with JAL or AA or really anything to that part of Asia, HKG, Seoul etc..
2. MIA-BCN
3. MIA-Africa. MIA should have service to Africa, Lagos, JNB, Dakar.
4. MIA-CPH SAS.
5. MIA-BRU/FRA on AA.

I'd love to see expanded mainline service from ABE. We have good regional service to IAD, ORD, BOS, CLE, CVG, ATL, PHL, CLT, DTW, and YYZ. CO has a bus to Newark Airport, too. We also have one mainline US flight to CLT every day (A319) and Allegiant service to FLL, SFB, and PIE. There is a large cargo operation with a few daily 727s and a daily A310.

However, I'd love to see more service. I think ABE has huge potential as a relief airport for EWR and PHL because of its location. Flights further out west I think would do pretty well. I've been at school since August 2005, and have never seen a flight stopped out of ABE, except the Hooters Air but that was because the whole airline went under. I've seen tons of service get added, including the entire Allegiant operation, which is, apparently, doing very well.

I think this airport could grow immensely and would do well with some service to places like MSP, IAH, DFW, and maybe even west coast destinations like LAX or SFO.

PLH-BHX, served by FlyBe on the DHC4 or WOW on the DHC3, unless we get a runway extension only the latter is viable.
PLH-CDG/AMS/FRA, AF/KLM/LH/WOW on anything which will land at PLH. It would be really nice to have a link back to a major European hub.
PLH-BCN probably stretching the legs on a Dash 8 from a 1160m runway, but it would be nice to formally link the two cities; Barcelona is the inspiration for Plymouth's regeneration and there are a lot of people from the region who travel South, as the FR GRO service from NQY has demonstrated.

LAW-CVG (DL/CRJ) I can only hope!

DFW:
DFW-SYD (QF/787) In a few years
DFW-HKG (CX/77W) Possibility

All mine are possible routes, not something that will never ever work.

From here in Perth, Australia.

PER-LHR (now!!! VS wants to start it when the 787 comes, but that will take some time).
PER-DOH (QR)
PER-AUH (EY)

I would also like more airlines to AKL, like QF or EK.

From Harstad/Narvik Airport in Norway.

EVE-CPH (SK or DY)
EVE-LHR (BA, SK or DY)
EVE-FRA (BA, SK or DY)

If life was perfect, there would be an EVE-SIN, so we could fly to Norway one-stop without going from LHR (or even better PER-EVE when they have aircraft that can fly so far).

Personally I would love to see:-

BHX>EZE (Any Equipment although I dont think its possible due to BHX Runway)
BHX>MAD and Vice Versa - Why did BA ever drop that route!?

Sorry I cant add a third as there isnt really another one I would like........

Cheers

Purely out of selfish interest

PNQ - DOH (QR)

But on a serious note , there is definitely a market for this route.

This is purely from selfish reasons, also:

FSM-SLC CRJ700 or 900 on DL

That way, I don't have to drive to TUL (2 hours+) to catch a flight to SLC.

I would love for IAD to have a couple trans-atlantic fifth freedom routes:

9W IAD-BRU-DEL
AI IAD-LHR-BOM
QR IAD-GVA-DOH
SQ IAD-FRA-SIN

Also perhaps some better links to South America other than UA (although AV and CM are welcome additions) :

LA IAD-LIM
JJ IAD-GRU-GIG
A3, AA, AC, AI, AK, AM, AP, AZ, B6, BA, CO, DL, EK, EY, FL, FI, FR, KL, KM, LH, MA, MH, MS, OA, OK, OS, SR, TA, TG, U2,

For YVR

Done by AC
YVR-HNL-BNE/MEL 763 now that the YVR-SYD flight has been put on the 77L and is doing well how about BNE and MEL.

YVR-FRA 333 it would be great if AC could fly this route on their own metal.

YVR-YHZ 319 would be the last major city in Canada that YVR does not have a non-stop too.

YVR-GRU or GIG. Connection for all of the Japanese flights, not of Japanese down in Brazil.

Other Airlines

SIN-YVR on SIA 345/77L

CDG-YVR on AF 777

SYD/MEL/BNE - YVR QF. Instead of the flight from SFO a non-stop would be nice for QF.

YLW-YVR on Pacific Coastal

I would like the 744 on LH instead of the 346 which we get now.

Overall I am not too picky am I  Wink

Would love to see LAX be served from ARN. But that will never happen.

Would be nice to have a connection to Canada, and to some more Asian airports, like SIN, HKG and so on.

I am limiting my thoughts to actually viable destinations ...

For HAJ I still see potential in a route to GVA about 4 flights per week flown by 80 to 150-seater.
Only limited potential I see in DUB, PIK/GLA/EDI, OSL - and FR's presence in nearby BRE plus X3's recent restructuring have made any new routes to non-hubs even more unlikely.
"Spain" is too much covered by AB via PMI.

Not a new destination, but I would love to see an alternative to KL to AMS who tends to shift flights to increasingly unattractive timings (this is for same-day return business trips to Amsterdam).

Not like these are likely to happen any time soon but:

PDX-LHR with VS how ambtious of me!  biggrin  (a little closer to reality would be BA)

with the NW/DL merger happening, return to olden days where DL had PDX be their Asia gateway....

That would be the day!

How about because it actually operates via a SIN rather than a LAX connection? It is considerabley shorter that way.

YYJ-YOW, Air Canada E190/A319... This could definitely be supported by government traffic I think (or maybe via YWG?).

YYJ-PDX, AC Jazz Dash 8/CRJ... I've heard people discuss this one before, and it would be nice.

YYJ-SEA, AC Jazz Dash 8... Horizon already serves this route heavily, but I want Star Alliance!!!

YYJ-NRT, ANA B737-700ER... This one is a bit far fetched, but with all the Japanese tourists we get I could see it working in the summer a couple times a week.

A while ago I would have said YYJ-California, but UA (or whatever connection partner) is trying out YYJ-SFO now with a CRJ-700!  Big grin
