I'm planning a trip to Italy in October. The return route is...
AF1205 321 dep FCO 10:20 arr CDG 12:30
AF388 343 dep CDG 13:45 arr CDG 17:20
According to the info on the AF webpage my flight should arrive at CDG terminal 2F and connecting flight should depart terminal 2E. I'll be checking in through to ATL at FCO. Would 1:15 be enough time to transit between terminals, go through security, passport control, etc?
Also, how early should arrive at FCO for check-in?

well, from my own experiences, yes.... though dont be fooled.
when i was flying IAH-CDG-SVO i had only 40min to connect. We landed on time, but taxied for over 15min and time was pressing. But AF had a pickup bus especially for people going to SVO and drove us straight to the terminal and passed us quickly through security. So it was a good experience considering it was CDG...

So answering your question, yes, if you are on time, i would say your connection time is good, but dnt take your time browsing the stores...

First, welcome on A.net !
Transfering from 2F to 2E is very rapid. No pb to do it in 1h15. Limit check-in time for european flights is 30 min before flight time. FCO-CDG flights are usually very busy so I would advise you to arrive at least 1 hr before at FCO.

Hmmmm - less certain about that - seeing as you're only leaving the Schengen area at Paris, you'll need to pass through passport control. Also, because you're arriving on a Schengen flight and transferring to a non-Schengen flight, you'll need to pass through security again. You might be able to do it in 1:15, but bear in mind your flight will start boarding 30 minutes before departure, which gives 45 minutes from touchdown to get to your other gate. Touch and go, I'd say.

With CDG you never really know, I've made a 45min BHX-CDG-HKG connection, but similarly friends missed a 1h 30 connection after a hold and long taxi delayed them. As it will all be on one ticket with AF, is there another later flight to get you to ATL should you need to be rebooked?

Of course, boarding just means that the line to get through gate screening begins, right?
The bottom line is that, though CDG can be a zoo, AF takes care of pax with tight connections, especially those who are in your situation where a misconnection may mean an overnight stay.

That's a highly debatable point. In my experience, AF's "care" usually consists of cancelling your onward connection and giving you a hard time if you do actually make it to the gate in time (under your own steam) and insist on being put back on. This usually involves a great deal of shouting.

I had a similar experience with AF at AMS (things might be different at CDG though). I was traveling LPI-AMS-LYS (KL first leg and AF the second) and was delayed 30 min into AMS. After a quick rush I made it to the gate with 10 min to go, but was refused boarding since my luggage wouldn't make the connection. In fact, I was told I had already been re-booked and was directed to the transit desks to collect my new boarding pass, AMS-CDG-LYS.

If they don't transport you to the gate themselves, it can be a mess. But going to a long-haul flight, they usually drive you themselves, and then it's delightful.I can't decide whether I miss the tulip or the bowling shoe more

There's a DL flight later that afternoon that I suppose could be a backup. I'd rather ride the A340, though.

The bus broke down so we had to run. It was still fun. The only problem is that they arent as quick to transfer the bags. We had 3 of them with us, one with my wife's clothes, one with mine, the other with all the gifts for my in-laws at AGP. The gifts made it. Our clothes did 2 days later. lol I still love AF and their drop dead gorgeous FAs....The only difference is now I make sure I leave about 3 hours to connect.
