WN Boarding Procedures
Does WN allow families w/ small children to pre-board? Or is it all strictly by boarding pass #? Or is there some variability depending on the flight's load?

Families board between the A and B groups. So after the first 60 people have boarded. Only unaccompanied minors and those needing extra time get a pre-board (and you need a blue ticket jacket from the agent to pre-board)

Unless they have A group boarding passes. Then they board in assigned spot. I assume you all knew that, but just wanted to make sure.

They changed it November 2007 so that the Business Select people could have more choices of where to sit since they are paying extra for that luxury.

Not what I saw when I recently flew them.
It went:
Pre-boards
Boarding group A (A1-A30 first, then A31-A60)
Boarding group B
general boarding
To pre-board, you had to be issued a blue pre-boarding pass by someone...I saw several families with kids that had these.
I suppose I should find out how you go about obtaining one of these, as our first kid is due July 28th...

Or they can do what they did yesterday on my DEN-SEA and SEA-DEN flights and say come right up (i think they did 1 pre board in DEN) as we had maybe 40 on the way out and 30 on the way back.

Anything after the preboarding passengers are done is general boarding. You need either a blue preboard sleeve (can be obtained by speaking to a CSA) or have an obvious disability to preboard. Families with A can board in their position, the rest go in Family Boarding after A. You will sometimes see families preboard, usually it's because someone in the party has a peanut allergy and they need to go onboard and wipe the seats down.
