Question Regarding US Award Ticket

Sat Jan 17, 2009 2:28 am

Hey folks-

Quick question for you all.

Back in June of last year, I booked an award ticket on US MKE-CHS for August of last year. It ended up that my plans changed, but instead of changing the award reservation, I booked a new trip on FL.

I called about two weeks before the trip to reschedule the award ticket. At that point in time, US policy allowed you to change dates (but not cities) without a fee as long as the award inventory was available for the new dates requested. I did so. For next month.

My routing was MKE-PHL-CHS and CHS-PHL-MKE. In between the time that I changed the ticket in August and now, the flight schedule seems to have changed on the return so that I now have six minutes of connection time at PHL. I got no notification of this. I simply noticed it when I logged into my DM account.

My question is this:. Would US change dates without a fee (a fee for changing dates has since been implemented)? And/or if I should show up to CHS as scheduled and misconnect, would I be entitled to anything? It should be noted that the PHL-MKE segment is the last of the day.

Call the airline, tell them to pull up your PNR, and then point out the connection time. Since, this is a scheduling change on their part, they will change your flights for free to give you a plausible connection.
