What To Do For 3+ Hours In EWR -Today-?

I'm sitting in CLE waiting to board CO 1567 to EWR arriving at 4:45... while I've O&D'd from EWR I've never connected prior to today.

The connecting flight, CO 2392 to TYS departs at 8:00 PM (though it looks like there's a terminal change involved... any suggestions to kill the surplus time?

I would say sulking in the hustle-and-bustle of Terminal C would be suffice entertainment, no?

CO's terminal C in EWR is very nice. There are a good number of shops, restaurants, bars, and some good areas to watch takeoffs/landings.

Your departing flt from EWR will likely be from A, as I believe all ERJ flts have now been moved out of the C operation. You will have to take a shuttle bus over.

That's a long way around and a lot of time to go five hundred miles! You could drive there in almost the same time. Take I71 to I75 and you are there!

Yeah, like I want to do that this time of year! I hate commuting to the office when there's ice on the road... Dayton and Cinci are doable, and since I know 71/270/70 I don't have a problem... but South of Cinci...not going there in my own car.

Anyway company policy is anything more than 5 hours of driving automatically becomes a flight, and when you figure out the way my time is billed to the client at and the fact that I can still be productive during all of that time, it works out better for everyone (and I don't need an extra day to recover from driver's butt!)...driving saps the life out of me.

If it makes you feel any better, as currently booked, my return trip will be much shorter... and if I can get things wrapped up in time I may even be able to hit the Nonstop

All of the terminals seem really dead today... I'm sitting in A right now... there were hardly any people compared to what I'm used to in C... A is wide open (but I've never been in A before so I don't know what 'normal' is), and those who are here are really lethargic. I pulled the seatmap for the flight in from CLE and it was pretty empty in back, the flight to TYS looked like there were only about 10 seats occupied.

Lincoln--its too late now, but the next time you have time at EWR, jump in a cab and head to the Ironbound District (about 15-20 minutes, and about $15)--you can grab some good Portuguese and Brazilian food/drinks. Or instead of a cab, if you time it right, you could take the Monorail to the NEC NJTransit Station, and take the train one stop to Newark Penn Station. One side of the Penn Station is Downtown Newark; on the other, the Ironbound District.
