AF 744 Or 773?

Mon May 25, 2009 10:40 pm

I'm flying JFK to CDG (in Y) on 6/6. I'm having a hard time choosing between 2 flights. Both are on AF the first one on 744 and the second on a 773.

I've never flown on either. What would you choose and why?

Also, can anyone tell me if the 744 has PTV in Y?

Thanks

From SeatGuru:

Quote:
Three of the 13 747-400 in the Air France fleet (F-GITH/F-GITI/F-GITJ) have personal televisions with your choice of eight movies, 20 video channels, and 16 audio channels. Because of the personal televisions, most window seats have power boxes under them, which limits leg and storage room.

Don't know how old that is, though.

As you mentioned, you haven't flown on the 747-400. Therefore if I was you, I would not miss the opportunity to fly on the 744. It is a fantastic airplane!

Try to get a seat at the upper deck : it is also Y class but all seats have PTVs on all aircraft and the pitch is much better (36" instead of 32" on the main deck).

I've been trying to call AF at 800-237-2747 but I'm unable to talk to anyone! Delta agents are unable to assign me a seat, accordng to them I have to wait until I check in.

Is there any other way I can reserve a seat on the upper deck before checking in at the airport?

Your best bet is to check in 24 hours before the flight. Air France won't allow reserving a seat on the upper deck unless you are a premium member.

I was fortunate enough to experience the upper deck the last time I flew Air France on the 747-400 and it was my best Y experience to date.
