RE: Your 2010 Booked Flights

Sat Jan 09, 2010 5:31 pm

I just booked my only planned trip for this year.

10/14/10 ATL-LAS DL 763 Cashed in my SkyMiles for this one. I booked it this early because there were a few times where I was going to use my miles for one way of a trip and by the time I got around to cashing them in, the lowest award fares were more than what I had in my account.

10/18/10 LAS-DEN-ATL F9 A320 (LAS-DEN) A319 (DEN-LAS). I've been wanting to try out Frontier for quite some time, and decided to do so for this trip. I went ahead and got a Classic Plus fare so if for some reason I have to ax this trip, it's a refundable fare (The cheapest refundable fare on DL was for a first class seat and was over $500.).

Quoting Airtrainer (Reply 34):
self birthday presents are so great

Indeed, I've also just 'treated' myself to a PLH-BRS flight to get up there, instead of the train/bus.

Quoting Airtrainer (Reply 34):
Dan, will you survive ?

Maybe, but having just booked over 70 train tickets for the coming two months, I'm not sure  embarrassed

I also booked a few more flights as well though, so '10 looks like this now:

26.01.2010 ... PLH-BRS ... Air Southwest ... DHC8-Q311
26.01.2010 ... BRS-RAK ... Ryanair ... B737-8AS
28.01.2010 ... RAK-LTN ... Ryanair ... B737-8AS
22.04.2010 ... PLH-NQY-GLA ... Air Southwest ... DHC8-Q311
22.04.2010 ... GLA-BHX ... FlyBe ... EMB-195

27 Feb EK3703 DXB MRU

Well , best laid plans and all that ... I suddenly have found myself single again after 13 years  Sad , and the above trip back to NZ for our wedding could very well end up being a one way instead ( and obviously no wedding in AKL )

From now on, I'm going to let the plane take the strain as often as possible.

31-May HAM-DUS-BHX Y *leisure*

I know there will be a work STR in May and a work DUS in June, those two mercifully are overmights (Tuebingen & Aachen). Probably nothing except leisure in July and August. Nothing in September, then the usual mad round in October and November (a DUS, VIE, MUC, NUE, STR, FDH and FRA) and then hopefully BNE,SYD,MEL and SIN over Christmas and New Year.

Well scratch that, as my Vegas itch (I couldn't hold out until October.) just led me to ax this booking and book the following:

4/29/10 ATL-LAS DL 763
5/3/10 LAS-ATL DL 763

My canceled refundable fare on Frontier covered not only the LAS-ATL leg, but also the $100 change fee on my award ticket (ATL-LAS).

Only thing firmly booked so far for 2010 is for my departure from MRU tonight

20 Jan EK 3704 MRU DXB
21 Jan EK 412 DXB1AKL

One way J class ( including a nice long flight on the A380 DXB-SYD-AKL )

Once I get back to New Zealand I will book a one way from AKL to Europe for mid May ( give me a bit of time to lick my wounds before setting off again ) ... probably something like AKL-HKG-FRA-LYS ... for some reason I have a good feeling about Lyon .

Only one flight booked:

MUC-STN tonight. I came STN-MUC on Tuesday.

We are planning a trip to South Africa in October, preferably with a stopover in Dubai en route, so will probably go LON-DXB-DUR-DXB-LON, but that depends on plans in SA, or if we fly from MAN with NWI-MAN tag on flights...

I flew JFK-ROC ten days ago on DL. I'll be flying between ROC and NYC relatively frequently, and some of the times I'll make a stop in DTW on the way down to get a DC-9 if it's not too much more expensive. Since I have a bunch of NW vouchers, I'll mainly be flying Delta.

A few more into the mix:

26.01.2010 ... PLH-BRS ... Air Southwest ... DHC8-Q311
26.01.2010 ... BRS-RAK ... Ryanair ... B737-8AS
28.01.2010 ... RAK-LTN ... Ryanair ... B737-8AS
07.02.2010 ... LGW-PLH-NQY ... Air Southwest ... DHC8-Q311
01.03.2010 ... OXF-EDI ... Varsity Express (LinksAir) ... J31
01.03.2010 ... EDI-BHX ... FlyBe ... EMB-195
08.04.2010 ... LBC-KBP ... WizzAir Ukraine ... A320-200
10.04.2010 ... IEV-IEV ... Antonov Airlines ... An-74 (still need to firmly book)
22.04.2010 ... PLH-NQY-GLA ... Air Southwest ... DHC8-Q311
22.04.2010 ... GLA-BHX ... FlyBe ... EMB-195
30.04.2010 ... BRS-NQY ... Air Southwest ... DHC8-Q311

04.07.2010 ... LBA-BRS-PLH ... Air Southwest ... DHC8-Q311

Still need to sort out travel back from Ukraine. I've set myself a budget of £50 each way from my home in the UK, so I need to find a way of getting to Hamburg Ludbec for about £30 from Plymouth. Coming back I'm thinking about taking the train to Lvov, a bus to Rzeszow, Ryanair to BRS and then an overnight NatEx coach back to Plymouth. Decisions, decisions!

Okay, finally got my first booking in!

06 Mar 10: DL 7098 ROC-DTW CR2 (NW4119 op. by 9E)
06 Mar 10: DL 4193 DTW-LGA D94 (NW7266 op. by NW)
15 Mar 10: DL 6453 JFK-ROC CR1 (op. by OH)

The best part is that I paid $70.10 for the whole thing. When they lose your bag for a few days, it can be totally worth it in the end! I was literally $25 away from being fully compensated for the entire itinerary (and that's not including the 6500 bonus miles). I should really do this more often!

Nothing booked, but I'm heading up to FCA in June for 7-10 days of backpacking in Glacier. And I'll be headed to Seattle in September for a conference, and will probably add a few days in Portland at one end or the other of the trip. Possible trips to Pittsburgh, Bermuda, and D.C. for conferences as well.

RE: Your 2010 Booked Flights

Tue Jan 26, 2010 12:08 pm

I've just booked what will be my farthest trip ever for April 2010.

Seven flights in 10 days on 6 carriers, 5 of them new for me. Very excited. .. and comparing the Emirates and Qantas A380's

JFK-LAX on AA 767
LAX-SYD on Qantas A380

SYD-AKL on Emirates A380

AKL-Wellington on Air New Zealand B737

Wellington-AKL on JetStar A320
AKL-LAX on Qantas 747
LAX-JFK on Virgin America A320

Total miles according to Great Circle Mapper ... 20883

I'll be sure to post some pictures along the way. Cheers.

Brian

Absoulutely nothing so far!

While 2009 has been quiet a weak year for my travels (lowest number of annual flights since 2002), 2010 looks a bit more promising though.

Whats definetly going to happen is a HAM/TXL-ZRH-HAM/TXL in may on LH and/or LX.
Just waiting for the university shedules for the new semester.

And I want to do something around late march / early april, but got no clue where to go.
Propably Russia, Iceland, Estonia, Sweden (BAe ATP...) or Tajikistan.

Here's another one I'm hoping to book for the end of May:

SURPRISE!
NYC-ROC
ROC-NYC

Airlines and aircraft are the usual suspects... will be DL (JFK) CR1, US (LGA) CR2/DH1, or [hopefully not] B6 (JFK) 320/E90. Good chance this trip won't happen... but I would like it to  Smile

Been a few changes for me:

Quoting KingFriday013 (Reply 73):
06 Mar 10: DL 7098 ROC-DTW CR2 (NW4119 op. by 9E)

Quoting PlateMan (Reply 88):

DL 6197 ROC-DTW ER4 (op. by F8)

Haven't been on an ERJ in quite some time... I'm looking forward to my A seat! As for Freedom... not so much. In any event, it'll also be a good opportunity to really compare the CRJ to the ERJ as I'll be on the Canadair just over a week later. My first ERJ, which happened to also be my first regional jet (unless you count the BAe-146-200 as a RJ, in which case I was on a RJ at the age of three or four), was also with Delta but operated by Chautauqua. All my other ERJs were with XE... obviously with CO Express.

Quoting KingFriday013 (Reply 73):
06 Mar 10: DL 4193 DTW-LGA D94 (NW7266 op. by NW)

DL 7266 DTW-LGA D94

From what I've heard, the last -40 flight has taken place a few weeks ago already. The last two rows are blocked out, so I'm assuming we're gonna get a -30. However, it's still coded as a "Boeing (Douglas) DC-9-40", so I can still hope

Well... not as many as last year, that's for sure! Can't afford it with other things coming up...

But I do have 3 flights booked;

13/07/10.....BE400........BHX-BHD.....E95
13/07/10.....EZY6775.....BFS-AMS.....A319
14/07/10.....EZY7008.....AMS-LPL.....A319

Overnighting in AMS at the CitizenM hotel, wanted to see some of the city as well as a brief visit to the panorama terrace, as I've done the latter before. Incidentally, those 3 sectors, and the train home from LPL cost considerably less than any return flights direct BHX-AMS-BHX. God bless loco travel.

Already behind me:
Jan, 21: LH 3531 VIE-FRA 321
Jan, 24: LH 3542 FRA-VIE 321

Yet to come:
May, 20: OS 271 VIE-TXL 738
May, 25: OS 276 TXL-VIE 73G
Aug, 14: OS 175 VIE-HAM 73G
Aug, 21: OS 172 HAM-VIE 73G
Oct, 5: OS 505 VIE-FCO 738
Oct, 7: OS 504 FCO-VIE 738

That should make me well acquainted with the still rather unfamiliar phenomenon of 737s in OS c/s.

Additionally, I am planning on a HG/LH combo VIE-FRA-AMS-FRA-VIE in early August.
