How the heckdid you get a 3 EUR fare + 10 EUR taxes?
Do you work for Air France?

Could you share your tip so we can all take advantage of this super-deal?
I would do 10 runs if it costs that little!

Sorry, this was maybe unclear. Of course I paid 78 EUR like everyone else, however I just wanted to point out that the flight fare is 3 EUR and the fuel supplement 10 EUR, the rest being taxes.
Since taxes are refundable and if cancellation is needed only 13 EUR will be nonrefundable (fare + fuel supplement).

Thank you very much for making things clear.
It is unbelievable how much taxes our governments are taking off everything, including flights.
In fact, we could be flying for 13 Euros if it wasn't for taxes.
Flying on passenger helicopter service from Monaco is tax free. From Nice to Monaco you have to pay 30 Euros more than the other way around.
There was a better way to fly it was called Concorde

I'll stay at an airport hotel (I guess I'll take the Premiere Classe Paris Parc Expo budget hotel, it's only 26 EUR through Expedia and it's located next to the RER-Station "Parc des Expositions", which is the station just before the airport.

That's the same one I will be stayin on June 11th, I will let you know how it is...

Oh, I actually know that hotel very well. I stayed a couple of times there. It's in a huge business zone which is dead at night. There are rabbits everywhere. It's 200 meters from the RER-Station and therefore easy to be reached, even from Paris. However there is nothing around. No restaurants, nothing. You need a car there to reach a restaurant.

The hotel itself is very very basic (it's all about the concept of Premiere Classe). Rooms are very small, no air condition, only a bed, a little table, a TV, a very small shower. But it's usually acceptably clean. Here you get the idea: http://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationP...ions-Villepinte_Ile_de_France.html

If you arrive at night you need to check in at the Kyriad hotel right next to the Premiere Classe Hotel.

There are rooms with twin beds, a queen size bed, or even a queen size bed with a bunk bed over it. Price always stays the same, no matter how many people will stay in the room.

If you know what to expect and just need a place to sleep, the hotel is fine. But dining options is a problem. If you've got time you can take a 30 minutes walk north to the other Hotel complex in Roissy, where a lot of other hotels and a few restaurants (Hippopotamus, Campanile Steakhouses) are located. Or just stay at the other Premiere Classe hotel called "Paris Nord 2" (address: "Rue de la belle Etoile")which is there directly. It's still cheap (approx 36 EUR), but more dining options. They have no train station, but a shuttle to the airport (at a cost, i believe 5 EUR return or something).

I am joining the band and will jump onto that wagon err. aircraft:
Outbound and return same day (CDG-LHR-CDG) on Sunday, 25-JUL-2010 flying on the upper deck, front section.
Will stay at the Sheraton the night before after an inbound flight from HAJ (the morning connection of only 75 minutes from T2G is too short for my taste - and I would have to get up too early on that Sunday  ).

"July 2010" is a busy one for me, attending A.net Meetings at MAN (03-JUL), ZRH (17-JUL) and that A380 flight (a mini meeting) ...

Unfortunately I have experience with the lack of air condition. I've stayed in the premiere classe of Goussainville (also very near CDG) a couple of times, in the winter all is fine but on hot summer days I found it near impossible to sleep because of the tropical temperatures in those rooms. Other than that I had nothing to complain about, I considered its position right under the approach of rwy 09R a bonus

I know also very well this area because I work there. So I can tell you that there are at least 2 restaurants open at night in the area :
- one at the Kyriad (same building as the Première classe hotel) but the food is really mediocre
- Another much better option is the restaurant of the Mercure hotel at 50 meters from the Premiere classe hotel (half way between the RER station and 1ère classe hotel)

Hi Goldorak, Thank you for this useful information. Indeed, there is a Mercure not far away. Since usually I arrive rather late in the evening I never considered the Kyriad as an option as it seemed closed to me, on the weekend at least.

But usually I travel on a budget and don't want a big dinner but rather a quick eatery. Therefore I prefer the Campanile, even if it's quite a long walk, but if you take the right paths it's a nice one and you can see a lot of rabbits   They have good meal deals there...

But nevertheless, without car there is not much to do in the surroundings... but for this kind of overnight stay it's not bad... No need to visit Paris for me since I used to live there for many years....

Yes, air condition is an issue... In my personal opinion, the Villepinte Paris Expo Hotel seems rather "quiet" - at least on weekends - while the Paris Nord 2 Hotel seems rather "noisy" and "crowded" due to the tons of hotels next to it. Furthermore I think the Paris Expo is better to reach Paris.

You can go and have a peek at Concorde F-BVFF (nicknamed the Concorde Statue) at the Parallel Runways nearby the Hilton. She is so beautiful at night with all her lights on!

She will be happy to see you, too. She loves having visitors!

Another passenger here. Will be taking the Thalys from Brussels to Paris Nord on august 20, spend 1 night in Paris, then fly out on august 21 to LHR. My return flight is on aug 23, and then I'll take the direct TGV from CDG to Brussels.

Train + plane will cost me €128... which is still cheaper than the cheapest flight out of BRU

For food I might just grab a quick sandwich and a drink at ORY before heading to the hotel.

Forgot to add myself to the list. I'm doing CDG-LHR-CDG on Saturday 12th June. I'll be flying AF MAN-CDG on some E190 small thingy on Friday evening and returning the same way on Sunday. Sharing a room with Nighthawk both nights in Paris; gas mask at the ready!

I also hear DXing might be heading over from IAH for the 12th June Flight?

There is also a similar thread on FlyerTalk (Air France/Flying Blue) with FTers doing runs.

I have linked them to this thread so they know what's going on on this side.
I will most probably be doing one of these runs but I have no idea what day(s) yet.
Maybe we can organize FT/A.net meet-ups on the flights.

Wed May 19, 2010 7:09 am

I cannot do 12 June as I am going to Japan 15 June.

I will see if I can book myself on 12 July as this seems to be the biggest group.
Is there a CDG-LHR A3I80 the day before? If not I will have to do a day return.

My flight on the 12th of July no longer appears on the booking engine. It shows an A321 on my Flyingblue page! Any information on this?

That is strange! On the AF website the AF1981 is no longer displayed and also on other booking engines the AF 1981 does not appear anymore for the abovementioned date!

- It indeed appears the 12/7 flights are indeed now operated by an A321.

I have e-mailed AF to complain, after all, we all booked these flighst for what they advertised, the A380.

hmmmm.... this is upsetting
maybe i should wait until the last minute to book my flights - i would not want to buy A380 and end up in a 321.
there will always be seats available until the very last moment, if not in Y I can always buy Business.

also, i have thought of something
if there is a good enough number of us on a given flight, maybe we can ask for a tour of the aircraft, including the flight deck and the first class cabin.

what do you all think?
would this be feasible?

Very bad by AF I think.. I am tempted to do this but don't wanna end up on another aircraft I could fly any day of the week... Maybe BA319-131 could let us know the reply from AF should he get one..

If I do decide to book I'll be doing the day trip on July 2nd...

MadameConcorde, your right. It will be more expensive, yet it's booking it already doesn't seem reliable.

We can inform AF about the 30 tripreports that wil be posted on this forum. It's up to them whether their positive or not. Maybe that's a good reason to give us the tour

Too bad this happened. Does any of you have an insight view on the bookings already made? Since it's of from their website, is it overbooked?

I was going to say the exact same thing, ha ha!

I think I am going to book your same 12 July leg so I can see all of you.
What is the booking link?
I will do the day return should I need to.

We MUST get the tour!

76 € return was available on airfrance.de the day before yesterday, too, but I was looking into other dates.

BTW, should we include seat numbers in the overview list ? I'll start ...
I also added E195 (+1) to 19th JUN.

Thanks for the tip. I tried using my first name, and could finally log-in. Air France is wishing me a pleasant trip and the plane still shows as an A380.

I just chose my seats as well. Will be on the upperdeck on the way out, row 91!
On the lower deck when flying back to Paris (managed to snatch one of the last seats with extra legspace   )

Why is there no more seats on the LHR-CDG leg on 12 July? Is it possible that the cabin is already full or are they selling as it it would be a 321 in case there is a flop with the Big Bus?

As I could not find space in Economy, I tried booking Business for 12 July R/T the same day and there are no seats available. Not on the way to Heathrow or back to Paris CDG.

I wonder if they have only sold seats for the number of passengers fitting in a 321 for both classes?

This is rather strange.

I really think it's planned an A321 right now. As long as they don't change it, it will be massively overbooked.

Why would you all want to book yourselves on a A321?
It could be a nice party with the A.net meet-up but still...
This is rather disappointing.

They may just end up swapping aircrafts at the last minute again.
I have been on plenty 380 flights already. I don't want to pay to fly on a A321.
I want to make sure I get the AF Big Bus for a cheap try or nothing.

Hi Guys,
I've confirmed seats on 19th June LHR/CDG and back again after a nightstop (of my birthday week woo!). Currently due to be sat on the upper deck - providing it dosen't get changed to a 321 of course then i'll be back downstairs :P
