Hey!

Just got back home in BCN after the fantastic flight, what can I say... WOW, it really is an amazing machine this thing, so quiet, comfortable, and just cool!

Also seeing all the excitement from the passengers was also nice.

Since I have not met any of the A.netters that where on the first flight today it was quite a challenge to meet them up, I did met MadameConcorde who I want to thank for tagging along, it was a pleasure meeting you and sharing this experience.

And also a big big Merci Beaucoup to AIRFRANCE for doing this, I was speaking with a member of the crew who told me they where not making any money with this flights, I told him "you might not be making any money, but at least you are making a lot of friends which I guess it's more important"

A trip report will follow shortly and I will add a few pictures from my rubbish attempts of aircraft photography.

And Hotplane... I hope you did not mind me taking the safety card and the magazine from the seat which you inherited from me

Anyways, bedtime now!

Excellent news I am working/training on this flight today.
For all the boys and girls flying today your ride should be F-HPJA.

I did not get home until 2.00AM the next day due to a delayed flight from CDG to NCE and local transport strikes.
A sleepless exhausting 24 hours, certainly for a worhty cause.

Flying on the shortest and cheapest A380 inaugural flights was great fun.

This was another fabulous experience on the A380 and my first inaugural flight aside from Singapore Airlines.
The cabin and cockpit crew were all a true class act. Wonderful, all of them top professionals, no fluff, just plain nice. This is one Air France flight that aside form the aircraft reminded me of the true professionalim from the days of Concorde including the flight certificate that was personally brought to me at my seat by one of the Chefs de Cabine on board along with a personal gift from the crew. I was allowed to access every part of the aircraft without any fuss or remarks from one end to the other.

For such short flights, it was a truly fantastic experience. The old captain was fantastic so was Mrs Patricia the Senior First Officer and all the cabin crew at their station upstairs and downstairs.

I was very happy to have met all the A.netters and FlyerTalkers on board. Thank you for being such nice company. Also I had -is that a coincidence- one of the First to Fly Singapore-Sydney-Singapore SQ380 flights as a seat mate playing swap seats on the return leg from LHR. Thank you Artemis. It was great being with you again.

I have got tons of pictures. I am out of sleep and spaced out. I will write a trip report, of course. It will all be from memory, with all the pictures to remind me of a really great trip on the world's biggest Aircraft.

Thank you Air France for another wonderful flying experience. Thank you Airbus A380 division in TLS.

The spirit of Air France Concorde remains!

Fantastic flight here to Paris on the 380. Very funny when the captain came on and said "Welcome on board this Boeing, umm, Airbus....." A lot of people started to laugh when that happened.

Not happy with AF though. They checked me in wrong, and my bag has not made it!

Not to worry - I managed to 'obtain' one elsewhere! Enjoyed both flights anyway and got another certificate on arrival at LHR.

Hehe! when I got to my seat there was none as well, so I took the safety from the seat next to me... so that explains why there was none there as well, but I did noticed a lot of safety cards missing.

Glad you all enjoyed the flights, it was a nice experience and I wish I can do it again... (maybe)

I was only there for the first arrival on Friday, I was not supposed to be but as I had time to spare I could not help but come and join in the fun somehow, I did not give the best description as most of us rampers are wearing shorts now.
Unfortunately the saturday I was supposed to train/work on the flight I was taken off due to a lack of the staff on that day so they put the same crew on who worked it the day before. I was gutted.

Were there any Manchester members on the flight back today. I know for a fact the guy 2 rows behind me was as I heard him and the FA chatting, he has a very loyal girlfriend who he dragged to Paris for the night just to fly the 380 lol

Also a nice guy who I got chatting to for a short time on the AF IFE Chat who also was from the Manchester area. He started the clapping on Landing, and we actually chatted in person in the passport Q. Seemed like a decent bloke who ever he was..

Do you think it is possible to get a tour everytime? Or do you think this was just a one off because of the a.net delegation on the first flight? Cause I wouldn't mind a little tour of the a380 too

bwest, I would ask your Purser on the flight kindly about a tour of the aircraft. I don't see why you would be refused the favour.

It now seems that the 79 Euros fares have disappeared from the Air France site. I have tried every possible way to see if I could still find the promotional fares we got earlier, to no avail.

Sadly I'm not on one of these AF A380s flights, but watching one banking over Kensington Gardens in central London today, around 6.15pm was an amazing sight!
it's the bus to stansted (now renamed National Express a6 to ruin my username)

If you are able to check-in online (or at one of AF's kiosks) for both sectors than all should be set, regardless where the BP has been printed.
I frequently was able to do it on KL for daytrips.

AF's booking engine still shows a A321 with 0 availability in Eco and some availability in Business Class.

Any news on this? The schedule still shows the A321.

I still like to meet some of the fellow A.netters on this flight.

Tim,

Edit,

The aeroportsdeparis website now shows the A380 is back on this flight.

Flight number : AF1981
Departure :LONDON-LHR on 12/07/2010 12:50

Arrival : Paris, 12/07/2010 15:05
CHARLES DE GAULLE TERMINAL 2 E
Status : On time *
Stopovers :No stopover
Type of aircraft :AIRBUS INDUSTRIE A380-800 PASSENGER
Airline : AIR FRANCE

The LHR website show AF1981 ETA 13:50. Wasn't that 12:50?

My reservation system at work shows EQV for this flight on 12JUL. So not sure what will show up actually.

I am really looking forward to your trip report, Markus!
Did you take (not so) Mini-Markus along with you on the trip?

For the others doing the flights in the next coming days, have a great time!
I truly enjoyed my ride with Big AF - many thanks again to the flight deck and cabin crews!

I have just checked in for the AF1981 flight tomorrow. Unfortunately on 35F, which is on the last seatrow. The weirdest thing happened, I have my return leg on the same boarding pass.

I had that as well. And since I did CDG-LHR upstairs and was doing the return downstairs, the gate people at LHR were trying to tell me I was in the wrong queue.
