I fly the route very often (DXB-BKK), almost every 2-3 weeks, and here are my inputs:
- If you are flying the DXB-BKK with a ticket purchased through EK as a code-share flight, you still got to check in at Terminal 1 at the TG desk. You will get no pre-selectable seat, and no on-line check-in either.
- If you have a Skywards Silver status then sometimes at the lounge the EK staff will tell you that you are not eligible to enter, because it is a code-share flight, however it is not true! Because you gave your money to them and so you are an EK passenger, so don't let them discourage you, and you will be granted access, however with the Gold card it is no longer an issue...
- TG is using the A340-600 and sometimes the -500 for some time now, not the A330, even if EK booking system is still saying A330!
- The TG A346 is very confy, 34" pitch everywhere, however if you have the possibility to choose, then choose around row 38-41 it seems to be a lot more! and on the left side from row 44 it is a lot less (maybe the normal 31-32")
- IFE is good, however nothing to rave about and definitely not as good as EK's ICE, especially not the Digital ICE.
- the 2 lightest loaded flights on this route is always the EK A380s and the TG flights, so you have a good chance of having a whole row for yourself
(I always wondered why TG is not downgrading back from the A346)
- The food on TG is always good, in all classes and the crew is friendly, but not too much... they do their job right
...as for the DUS-DXB sector I fly that very rare, only when it is the best option, but here goes:
- the 777-300 they use to DUS has the upgraded Business class (at least most of the time) and the Y is also the upgraded ones, however to ICE and not the new Digital ICE yet.
- despite what many here say, the 10 abreast in Y on the 777 is not bad at all, you get 34" pitch, the seats are just as wide as on many other carriers, I only find the aisles too narrow
- You will love the upgraded Business Class if that is what you take
- EK crew are friendly most of the time, and do a superb job in making your flight a great experience!
well...those are a few things I can come up with for you in 2 minutes, have a nice trip!
