I haven't seen this here, sorry if someone has already mentioned it. According to the Rio Times an AF A330 had engine failure and was re-routed to Morocco. The article did not get into much further detail. Everyone is safe, however panic apparently broke out during the incident. AF sent a new aircraft to pick up the stranded pax in Casablanca but according to the report many chose an alternate way back to Paris.
Has anyone else read this story? I have found other reports via Google.
I wonder if superstition could impact this route moving forward, it seems as if it did spook some of these fliers enough not to continue on with AF. I am not injecting any personal commentary in any other way.

This is a weird coincidence. Wasn't TAM also having problems with an a330 on CDG-GIG a few months ago as well? I will probably never fly the route aas I am as superstitious as they come!

It doesn't make any sense at all. If they were superstitious why would they fly an AF A-330 from GIG to CDG in the first place? The same could have happened (lost an engine over the Atlantic Ocean) to an AF B-777.

Has to be one of the funniest things I've seen here, thanks.
With regard to the subject, I guess the shadow of AF447 will for ever be there, and there is no doubt that it should never be forgotten as it gave us many many lessons , some of them valuable if not all.
This is (not trying to be harsh here) yet another incident , well managed by the way, of many that occur while flying, IMO nothing to do with A/C and or Airline here.

Totally agree with you here.
If it was another twinjet, another airline, another route, maybe it would not even be news.
It is just because it's 330, AF and RIO-PAR.
I just flew that same flight (AF445) 2 days ago, on 330 and would do so again tomorrow !
