Wed Sep 18, 2013 8:07 pm

Are there any hotels around YYZ with good runway views?

Many thanks in advance...

Incoming flights practically scrape the roof of the Toronto Airport Marriott when that approach is in use. You can see passengers inside the aircraft from the upper floors of this hotel. Get a top floor room on the side facing the airfield, and whichever runway is in use, you'll have a fine view. Just make sure you bring earplugs.

The Sheraton Gateway Toronto Airport is actually built in to Terminal 3, and has excellent views of the tarmac and runway. You can get a sense of what the view from some of the rooms looks like here:

Habe been to this a year ago - it was very good. As a hotel AND for aviation fans. Make sure to get a room high up.
Of course you feel a bit isolated from the apron in there because the windows absorb the sound quite well. But this is a good thing as soon as you lay to rest...

For aircraft landing on runway-05 this is a good spot. (Dixie Rd just south of Derry)
