Can't wait for it to become a regular sight at MIA. Gorgeous livery on a gorgeous aircraft. I had already seen the pictures as I follow Miami Spotter, but thanks for sharing!

My guess is weather. It left 4 hours late due to weather in NYC, and my guess is that the weather had not cleared enough for them to continue. Best diversion for LAN in terms of getting people where they need to be would be MIA, don't you think?

Relax, Francis. A lot of flights diverted and sat on ground due to the blizzard at New York airports, then proceeded later.

Spirit's flight to LGA this morning would have been the first in, but it circled around Long Island and then diverted to Atlantic City, where it landed. It then came back to New York later.

LGA and JFK are still screwed up as of 5:05PM Jan 3. My flight from CHS to JFK was just cancelled (6407). My neighbor's MYR-LGA flight left around two hours late but got in.

For the record, this would only be second 787 visit to MIA and the first daytime one. The honor of the first was a United 787 medical divert that occurred a few weeks ago at approx 0100H on a Houston - Lagos flight.

LAN 787 service is slated to start to MIA sometime towards the end of this year.

Here is the departure track from Flightradar 24.
