All Singapore Stuff, a citizen-journalism community reported on their Facebook page earlier:
"SQ322 (A380) made an emergency landing at Changi International Airport this morning.
According to passenger accounts, after a two hour maintenance delay for engine and aircon issues, the plane was finally certified fit to fly.
However within half an hour, the plane was forced to turn back and made an emergency landing in Singapore. It was such a hard landing that the tires were punctured."

"Air conditioning" in an airplane can mean a lot of different things. How many air conditioning packs does the A380 have? Diverting and making an overweight landing because of the loss of two of them suggests something a little more serious than just the possibility of the cabin temperature being a little hot or cold.
I know that in many airliners, the loss of one too many a/c packs can result in a loss of pressurization.

Bad lucky for A380 this week.
Other than the EK AOG in Canada,
a Qantas A380 flight departed yesterday from Hong Kong (after delaied 24 hours due to maintance issue)
was returned to the gate because of technical issue AGAIN. Creating mess in Hong Kong Airport.

The aircraft type shown in the Straits Times - from link in Reply 1 - is patently not an A380. The ST could be a bit more careful when pulling a picture from the files, not so?
Perhaps it is not an Airbus, in which case another manufacturer could well be peeved.

Seems that both the 787 and A380 love the headlines for all the wrong reasons 
Lets hope the A350 can be a more positive story once it enters service.

Normally for a hard and overweight landing, how long does it take for checks until it is clear to fly again?

It is surprising that they didnt dump fuel but instead go for straight landing...... such urgent? Or they can save a few bucks for the oils?

I'm not sure as to how long until the aircraft is given the green light but I'd say roughly a week depending on the damage?

Overweight landing is relative for the A380, didn't Airbus land it with 590/600tons?

The A-380 has two PACK's, one in each wing root leading edge. Each PACK has two separate cooling units.

I think it has a good chance given that Airbus has already decided not to use lithium-ion batteries because of problems with them that grounded the rival 787 - you could argue that this was the biggest issue with the 787. IMO the A350 has not had to involve 'new technologies' as much as the 787 and the A380 so it has a better chance of avoiding blunders as a result of being more innovative...
