Update: My trip last weekend worked out as planned. It was great and I can recommend it to anyone.
I did KUL-IKA and have some transfer advice: At KUL, you can check-in at the gate about 2 hours prior to departure, so no need to leave the airside area. A C-Class ticket allows access to the Plaza Premium Lounge. The dragons let us in even with just a print-out, so we could already enjoy the lounge long before our departure. There are good shower facilities, great food (e.g. freshly-made seafood soup, good coffee from a real machine etc.) and you even get a stamp on your ticket/BP that states "unlimited flow of beer and spirits" in the lounge which is quite ironic given that IR is a dry airline.
The flight itself was superb from the beginning until the end. We sat in the first row in the nose area, the food was delicious and the service very professional and friendly. Just as described by many previous full trip reports by other a.net members (which is also why I was too lazy to write another TR on this flight).
Upon landing at IKA, we did not enter the country even though we had 9.5 hours of transit time (18:00 until 03:30) because my friend's passport was valid for less than 6 months. So we stayed in transit. The main issue was that we had to wait for 6.5 hours on a bench right before passport control. An officer took our passports and asked us to stay there. Unfortunately he didn't tell us how long it would take - but after 1 or 2 hours we figured out that we'd have to wait until check-in for our onward flight on TK would begin, i.e. at 0:30. At least there was a TV to watch the football game, and one guy brought us some food and the visa officer invited us over for some tea. There's also a water fountain, so nothing to worry about, even though it's a boring area and the wait can be long.
Hope this helps anyone who'll go on such a trip to catch the SP, which is a truly great experience.
