RE: World's Best 2014 Airline Liveries Announced

Fri Jul 25, 2014 6:10 pm

Uninspiring .......

Arik Air
TAM
Delta Airlines
Air Canada
SAS
Air China
Easyjet
United Airlines
Tarom
Transaero (pretending to be Air France!)

the list of uninspiring colour schemes could go on, and to be fair one scheme may suit one type of plane better than another too.

My favourite 10 in no particular order would be.......Thai, Air NZ, Air Seychelles, Hawaiian, LAN, SIA, Alaska, JAL, American (it's actually growing on me the more I see it), Air Canada Rouge.....you sure know what country it's from and much better than the grey spotty AC scheme)

Taste is a personal thing so I dare say many will disagree

No argument about HA.

But how in the world can Swiss be on the list, but not Alaska? AS is a great livery.

Hi mate,
Fully agree with you. I love Alaska's scheme, especially the font and the Eskimo (isn't he nicknamed 'wilbur' or 'seymour' or something???) but 'warning warning warning': Alaska said that they are rejigging their colours late this year or early next, it was reported in a thread here earlier this year. I hope they don't mess with the font or the Eskimo, but the fuselage arrangement could be updated. Horizon would follow suit I guess.
My all time favorite colourscheme and aircraft combo is BOAC's final colours on the VC-10. The 'Wunula Dreaming' Qantas 747-400 and 'cockatoo' Impulse 717 are runners-up. My favourite contemporary scheme and aircraft combo is the Air Nuigini wingletted 757 when fully painted - simply superb.
Btw, the Air Inuit colourscheme seems to be heavily influenced by the Air Littoral forward fuselage... Not that that's a bad thing! Air Littoral's colourscheme is one of the best I have seen...
Cheers,
Bunumuring.
